Kids getting ready for an electro scooter ride. These things are supposed to be so good for the environment, yet they appear to be understood as cooler and more fun alternative to walking.

Electric scooters can pose as an environmentally friendly alternative personal mode of transportation that has appeal in urban settings and for short distances. As electric scooters become more popular in urban and high traffic settings, user safety poses a major concern alongside other health risks for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children sharing the road. All riders should use helmets.

Electric scooters are everywhere.

Thurs. the 19th and out before Sunrise. Little Walk down to Waterfront.

Julia (stranger 62)

Julia gave me friendly and unsolicited advice: "It is better to take that photo from top to bottom and then determine in advance what you want on it". I was taking a picture of some trees and wanted to consciously blur them by zooming in quickly. Julia said that you can also achieve that effect by moving your camera. That's how we got into conversation. Julia is herself a photographer, street photographer. At least until recently, after a meniscus operation, she no longer does that, she no longer runs well. Nowadays she goes out with an electric step. Officially that is not allowed in the Netherlands, which is why she is not going to Rotterdam with it. Here, in the polder it's no problem and when she thinks the police are arriving, she will soon walk. You can walk with an electric step.

This is the 62th photo of my second round of the # 100stangers project.

"This is a revolutionary electric scooter. It has 12 inch tubeless tyre and amazing performance which gives it smoother riding experience."

Not mine, I'm borrowing it from my father.

There you go, lying down on the job again.

These scooters are popping up all over the city.

Lady on an e-scooter on the towpath by the Union Canal. more and more of these things all over town (often on pavements), despite the fact it's illegal to use them on public roads and pavements in Scotland, but it doesn't seem to affect people buying and using them!

The e-Scooters are provided by Nottingham City Council for the public to use. With a cost of just 12p per minute, via an App, riders will be saving money on fuel prices and parking fees too.

With 1,000 e-scooters available in 400 locations, on average 3,500 rides are made each day, making Nottingham one of the most popular e-scooter trial locations in the UK. e-scooter trial, which started in autumn 2020, has been extended until May 2024. The trial extension will allow Superpedestrian, in partnership with Nottingham City Council, to further diversify e-scooter ridership by encouraging more women and older people to give the micro-mobility vehicles a try. Nottingham is one of many cities trialling e-scooters, and learning made in the city will be used to plan the smooth integration of the micro-mobility vehicles into cities around the UK, if they are legalised in the future.

Kids racing electric step's (as we call them) on the main square at La Défense Paris. They were everywhere.

Way better than Segway's. If you've ever done a city tour on a Segway with a helmet on, you're a big LOOSER! :)

Yours for around 20.000SEK. If you are lucky you can get 25 percent of that money back via the "Elfordonspremien". You can drive this thing indoors as well as outdoors. And it is legal do drive it on the sidewalks. Top speed around 18km/h.

Electric scooters for hire, Cambridge, 2021.

Captured in the serene, cool light of the early morning blue hour, this photograph presents the magnificent, restored facade of the Union Iron Works Company headquarters at Pier 70. The scene is quiet, offering a moment of visual solitude before the day’s activities begin, with the deep indigo sky casting a dramatic contrast against the building's bright white paint. This grand structure stands as a powerful symbol of San Francisco's industrial history and subsequent revitalization.

The building is designed in an imposing neoclassical style, featuring a clean, white stucco or painted finish that dramatically catches the ambient light. Dominating the center is a monumental arched entryway filled with dark-framed glass and metal, reflecting the geometric elegance of the interior. The company name, "UNION IRON WORKS COMPANY," is inscribed across the cornice, anchoring the structure firmly in its past. Symmetrical wings flank this central arch, pierced by multi-pane windows that glow with warm, interior light, hinting at modern activity within the historic shell.

The surrounding environment reinforces the context of a working, evolving urban district. The foreground is defined by the dark, wet asphalt and the mix of materials beneath foot: rough cobblestone paving meets smooth concrete on the sidewalk and crosswalk. A white sedan and two electric scooters are parked discreetly along the curb, providing modern scale markers against the large, historic architecture. The street lighting casts a warm, yellow-orange glow on the foreground and highlights the red brick wall of the adjacent, older structure on the right. This view is a perfect juxtaposition of the city's powerful manufacturing past and its continued commitment to preservation and innovation, all bathed in the beautiful, transitional light of dawn.
