Using open-source data on the topography of Venus, I changed a flat (hollow) sphere into a model of Venus. I then added raised images of 4 different dragons evenly spaced across the surface. I 3d printed the object using white PLA filament. It doesn't look like much when the light is turned off: just a lumpy white ball. But when the light comes on the imagery reveals itself.
“Modern Electrics” was a technical magazine for the amateur radio and electrical experimenter, “a magazine devoted entirely to the electrical arts.” Created and edited by Hugo Gernsback, it began publication in April, 1908 and, by 1911, it included technology-based fiction stories. Gernsback’s own science fiction novel, “Ralph 124C41+,” first appeared in the magazine as a 12- installment series. In 1913, Gernsback sold the magazine and, after a series of changes, it became “Popular Science” in 1916.
The illustration on the cover of the February 1912 issue of “Modern Electrics” is a scene from Gernsback’s novel, “Ralph 124C41+.” Ralph, the world’s greatest inventor, is aboard his space flyer on the way to Mars, peering through the porthole. He sees the villain Llysanorth’s space flyer and a battle ensues.
