2021 represents a significant milestone in the history of the Phoenix Railway-Photographic Circle with the celebration of our 50th anniversary by publishing a book to showcase some of the members work, past and present, from 1971 to the present day.
The book contains 14 chapters and 144 pages of photographs depicting the work of over 50 accomplished railway photographers with many differing styles and approaches. It takes an alternative view on photographing the railway scene over the past 50 years.
The book, called 50 Years of Phoenix is available now – click on this link to order your copy: www.mortonsbooks.co.uk/product/view/productCode/15554

"Scientists to the last—what had they done that we would not have done in their place? Radiates, vegetables, monstrosities, star-spawn—whatever they had been, they were men!"
Bristlecone Pines are amazing. This one is around 4500 years old (about as old as the Egyptian pyramids). It was a real humbling and exhilarating experience to spend one night alone in the forest with these elders of the living world.

Thinking about making some short videos from time to time! I don't know a whole lot about video but Skyrim should be a great tool to explore that! Too bad for the hair clipping in this shot D:
At last weekend's Saugeen Ojibway Nation Pow Wow, an elder waits his turn to dance. It was interesting to see the difference between him and the younger dancers - the colors and makeup of his regalia were more traditional compared to their vibrant neon blush and he had a stately presence that could not be ignored. I can't honestly say I know much about First Nation culture, but his dance seemed more intense as well. The fact that the field was cleared, spoke volumes about the respect he was given. It was quite something to watch.
Axis deer (aka chital deer) are invasive animals introduced to Texas several decades ago. They have managed to escape the exotic ranch fences and thrive in the natural (and manmade) habitats of Central Texas. These are part of a large herd (or several herds, perhaps) that frequent our property. The fawn is from another doe who is nearby . The grand old dame is on up in years. I read that the average lifespan is about 9 to 13 years. I would venture that she is at least 9 years old, her head is almost completely gray.
