But ideal for colour photography so off I went with hat and coat along with a micro-fibre cloth.

This elderly Zeiss lens delivers a certain unique quality, a little difficult to focus occasionally but when everything comes together mmmh! f1.7 btw.

In rural Madison County, Alabama. If age does not kill it, construction might. There are many new residential, business and warehouse complexes being built in this area.

This image has been produced from memory and may need a little tweaking if it prompts anyone to offer photographic evidence (I recall seeing a picture a few years ago). George Stephenson & Company Limited of Bishop Auckland was one of the largest building contractor in south-west Durham. The yards at Bishop Auckland and Tindale Crescent were an Aladdin's Cave to anyone interested in elderly vehicles - particularly ex-military kit. My favourites were the Leyland Hippo tippers with the 'RAF' style cabs (as per the pressure refuellers).

Bus-wise Stephensons had operated pre-war Bristol J-Types and post-war L-Type before acquiring this Bristol LS (I imagined there were more but this is the only one that I can be sure of). New in 1955 to United Automobile Services as VHN 899 (fleet number BU99), it was withdrawn in 1971, passing to Stephensons for staff transport. The company ceased trading sometime in the late 1970s.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Some awesome mutton chops caught my eye for this shot, captured close-up at 35mm focal length. Enjoy!

On 15 June 1310 Baiamonte Tiepolo, a rebellious young nobleman, plotted together with other noblemen, a conspiracy to overthrow the government of the Serenissima. Their army had almost made it to St Mark's Square and was preparing to attack the government building. Puzzled by the roar coming from the street, Lady Lucia leant out of her house window and in doing so dropped (purposely?) a heavy mortar that she was holding immediately killing the flag holder of the army of rioters. This incident caused havoc amongst the insurgents who were subsequently easily defeated by the regular army.

As a sign of gratitude, the Venetian Republic granted to Lady Giustina the block of the rent fee, which was never raised untill the fall of the Republic. In remembrance of the event, an elderly lady in 1861, living in the same house, had a high-relief etched depicting the woman who saved with her mortar the city from dictatorship.

An old, old, old....bridge over the Mohawk River (fenced off for safety). There is an old layer of blacktop on it but you can also see that underneath that there are wooden "bricks" making up the deck of this bridge. The thin oxidized steel gives it a frail "elderly" look that belays its age.

I had to drive into Ayr late afternoon and on my way back home I drove down to Ayr Beach to catch my lone figure!

After waiting for more than half an hour hidden behind a rock trying to get a closer shot to a pair of wild ducks (Tadorna tadorna) in the lagoon of Kalochori (Thessaloniki) an amazing surprise came and sat in a rock just one meter far from me! I knew i had only a shot before this lovely wild Hoopoe flies away, so i did my best and this was the result!

Short History:

The Hoopoe is immediately after the swallows , the bird which is connected with the coming of Spring . Makes its appearance here in Greece from the second fortnight of March ,presenting a culmination in April , May , while 2-3 pairs will stay at the summer making nests while the last person will leave for the south at the end of September, early October .

In Egypt it is considered sacred bird because they believe that it is affectionate towards elderly parents. Acording to another tradition, Hoopoe was a domesticated , very proud bird and was called " wildhen " . Flaunt among with chickens and ducks for its beautiful nose who kept her clear and always up . Hoopoe thought that his nose a great weapon also. Once upon a time In a walk, with chickens and ducks ,they were attacked by a fox . Hoopoe was the first who ran away. The fox ate all the chickens and ducks so Hoopoe became a wild bird and because of his shame he never came back in the coop .

You will see him looking for food primarily on the ground looking with his long and slightly curved beak for insects, snails and worms . When approached and bothered , he will lift his lovely blackspotted plume .

The light colouring and ragged tail feathers point to this being an elderly bird.

The Greenville and Western Railroad is a 12.5 mile long short line railroad that runs between a CSX interchange in Pelzer, SC, to Belton, SC, where they interchange with the Pickens railroad. The railroad's locomotive roster consists of 4 elderly EMD motors. Two GP9's and two GP30 type locomotives are employed as power for the shortline. This day we were quite fortunate to catch their short hood forward GP9 High-hood on the point of the southbound CSX Interchange-Belton/Pickens Interchange train. GRLW 3752 is a GP9 that was originally built for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in July of 1957. This locomotive is one of the rare examples of a first generation diesel engine out running in revenue freight service. The 65 year career (and counting) of this locomotive is a testament to the build quality of early electro motive diesel locomotive. The trailing GP30 was a 1962 build for the Santa Fe Railroad. The GP30 is arguably more scarce than the GP9, and both engines together in the great Greenville and Western paint make for a great photograph. The sun was even out to boot!

Thanks for looking and enjoy!

At the end of the day, these items are parked in the narrow aisle that leads to the rear of the store. The elderly owners have a bed made from old coats and blankets also at the rear of the store.

Two elderly Martians, immersed in current events, are captured by an astute photographer. But could the fodder they're reading be Mars’s version of fake news?

An elderly woman moves the grain around so as to dry all of it in the sun. I liked the 'compare & contrast' with the two female figures on either side of the temple doorway...

well, at the very least, old at heart
