"In solidarity with the victims in Nice I will wear the colours of the French flag from tonight." ~ @LaTourEiffel official Twitter account, 7/15/2016
My wife and I had a wonderful time celebrating Bastille Day (La Fête Nationale) in Paris. From the Tuileries Garden, we saw the 10:45 AM flypast, where 55 aircraft flew over the Parisian city center. From the Louvre courtyard, we watched the 11:50 AM helicopter flypast, followed by the closing pass of the French aerobatic team Patrouille de France streaming the colors of the French flag in gorgeous colored smoke plumes. We ended the day by watching the Eiffel Tower fireworks display from Pont de la Concorde with thousands of tourists and Parisians alike. It was a memorable day for all the right reasons.
As we were getting back to our apartment in the 1st arrondissement, though, we overheard some American teenagers talking about an attack in Nice. We jumped on the internet, and like everyone else, we were saddened, confused, appalled -- all at once.
Wearing the colors of the French flag, the Eiffel Tower is quite beautiful. Still, here's to hoping Parisians and tourists won't have to see it wearing those colors for a somber occasion again. Anyway, I'll get back to posting black-and-white abstracts soon enough. This photo seemed appropriate for today, though.
Taken during 2016's Bastille Day celebration. I remember getting to my spot early, enjoying the evening along the river, then watching the fireworks display while I held the shutter release down. Lots of really bad photos that way, for sure -- but also some keepers. =)
Eiffel Tower during the "blue hour", Paris, France - with fountains in the foreground. I just returned from 3 weeks in Europe, teaching photo workshops with Drake Busath. This was one of the shots I orchestrated for the group during our "2 Nights in Paris". The Trocadero Gardens (Jardins du Trocadéro) and fountains (the Fontaine de Varsovie - often called Fontaine du Trocadéro) with its 20 water cannons, it creates a remarkable display, especially at night.

1AM. Paris. Cold & rainy night. Yet, would you turn your back from this view? :)
Shot during a recent trip to Europe.
OK - so I cheated with the sky, but I did take the shot of the Eiffel Tower, albeit many moons ago. Happy Slider Sunday!

I remember it was raining on and off , and I was passing by the tower, wondering if I could get one opportunity. Suddenly the moon came out and no rain.......I just didn't believe it......Well the rest is in front of you to judge......
I need to go back to Paris again.... Love the city.....

A unique architectural aspect of Paris Las Vegas is that the back legs of its Eiffel Tower actually come down through the ceiling into the casino floor.
