Wilbur Gunn, an American opera singer living in England, established the Lagonda motorcar company in 1906 in Staines, Middlesex, with the 20hp six-cylinder Torpedo, which successfully ran the Moscow to St. Petersburg trail in 1910. Named for a Shawnee settlement in Springfield, Ohio, where Gunn was born, the Lagonda name became synonymous with high speed luxury automobiles. By 1938, Under the engineering hands of WO Bentley, the Lagonda had evolved into a large 4.5 liter tour de force with a 12-cylinder engine on a 3,150mm wheelbase summoning almost 200 hp. The mighty V12 was entered into the Brooklands 500-mile race and beat out all comers – including the Bentleys – with a top speed reported in excess of 100mph. Only 187 of these Lagondas were hand-built and each one cost £2,500 new – quite the handsome sum for an automobile in 1938.
This is an elegant, but all business racing dash. Note it even sports an EGT, Exhaust Gas Temp Gauge. Looks almost like you could add wings and take to the air. Tap twice on the image to enlarge for details.

It looked in superb condition. No MOT history prior to 2010 and it's done about 2,000 miles since. Present owner since 2019.
I've left the fairly elderly Citroen C5 taxi in the shot. I'm guessing this has only recently become a cab as it shows 109,000 miles at the last MOT.

Ahead of schedule and trying to conserve fuel for arrival into Tokyo - Narita, where the Japanese ATC tend to descend the aircraft early and then vector aircraft off the STAR, wasting fuel.
