The camera takes a photo and saves six images, each one having a different special effect applied to it. Most of them are a bit naff, but this one is quite reasonable.

[View large.] My firework shots didn't all work out like they were supposed to this year, but there were quite a lot that I actually quite liked the effects of, more than the more 'correct' shots, and I know everyone has firework pictures, so here's just a couple, my last on the subject! These are from Sunday's 'Blyth In A New Light' display, which kicked off 2007's Northumberland Lights Festival. The display was along the pier at North Blyth, hence the reflections in some of them, in the River Blyth.

No I can't lie, it's not mine, I was just able to hold it for a minute. It belongs to a special effects studio, called Special Effects Unlimited. They do real effects like explosions and such. They worked on the last Terminator movie and many other well known films.
Smoking causes many unwanted effects. Someone who smokes is more likely to develop a disease, age faster, and have yellow teeth and fingers. Many people continue to smoke because they believe it relieves stress and do it to be popular.
I need more memory for AE to render optimally. With only 6GB its .55GB per physical core. I think the minimum should be 2GB per core. I would love to see AE max out all these cores. Can't wait for OWC to have the 4GB modules in stock. The good news is that they just dropped the prices of the 4GB modules.
I went out on the Hathaway bridge to get some night exposures for photography class. "Tracks and Pathways" is the theme. This is the effects version.

First attempts at dropping water, and jif lemon... into water. To freeze the action I used a 580ex flashgun manually set at 1/8th power, and triggered by a custom built circuit with a light gate and adjustable timer. The system seems to work quite reliably, I just need to improve the drops by the height used, the tray, the background etc etc... Lots to experiment with! You can see I used a ruler and a dice to work out the focal point... but it also added some interest to the shots!
