Back at the Bridge

I didn’t set out to take more photos of Smeaton’s Bridge. But, my feet ended up there.

This time I was ther eduring blue hour – just around sunset. And, I was treated (along with everyone else) to this rainbow-themed light show. I love the way that the lights are reflected in the Tay. (More to follow.)

Back in 2011, I took a picture of Kiera and my oldest son Zakary for her 52 weeks project. I took license and posted it below. It was one of my favs, even in technically imperfect in exposure. This week, Zak came in from L.A. where he lives now and I captured this photo of the 2 of them.It reminded me of the 2011 photo. He is, and has always been "her boy". It was a good visit~they both needed it.

She is doing well and really learning to maneuver well on 3 legs. Hopefully next week I will get a full body shot of her agin, maybe with movement if it ever stops raining here in SW Florida!

Thank you all for your good wishes during a very tough time for our family. We are on the other side of the sadness

and it feels good.

This wonderful choir of children from Uganda came to sing at our church. They are quite amazing! They are touring around to different churches throughout the U.S. to help raise money to purchase a new school and orphanage. They have already raised enough money to purchase land and have started building. Presently there are 600 children being housed and schooled in a building on 1/4 acre of land! They have no running water, they live in terribly cramped quarters, and somedays they do not have enough food for everyone. Many of them have lost their parents and families to aids and malaria. But these children are working very hard to achieve their dream! You would also never know the hardships that they edure by the smiles on their faces. They were the most beautiful, happy, and grateful children I have ever met! I was so thankful that I volunteered to help welcome them and feed them the night that they sang. I was truly blessed by their presence and it is an experience that I will never forget! Being in the United States has been quite an experience for them. Flying was another huge experience, since most of them have rarely even left the grounds of their school. I cannot even imagine! I hope that they take back some great memories and new hope of building a better future for Uganda.

Please, pray for them as they work on achieving their dreams and also visit their website and read and watch their videos. They have quite an amazing story! - www.s118392501.onlinehome.us/subbi/default.aspx

The subject of Leonardo da Vinci's famous Mona Lisa painting has been brought to life by AI researchers.

The video, achieved from a single photo, shows the model in the portrait moving her head, eyes and mouth. Paul Delvaux 1897-1994 Belgian

The Great Sirens , 1947

Oil on Masonite

Measuring over six by nine feet, The Great Sirens is one of Delvaux’s largest paintings. The work features partially nude female figures in a moonlight architectural landscape, a mysterious setting that reveals the painter’s admiration of the work of Giorgio de Chirico ( see Ariadne on view nearby). Unabashedly unselfconscious in their states of undress, the women are formidable, even threatening, in their quiet seduction. In the distance, a group of beached mermaids mesmerizes a lone man in a bowler hat. Ambiguous in meaning, the painting evokes eduring themes of love and erotic fantasy.

Soli is a new sensing technology that uses miniature radar to detect touchless gesture interactions. Soli is a purpose-built interaction sensor that uses radar for motion tracking of the human hand. The Soli software architecture consists of a generalized gesture recognition pipeline which is hardware agnostic and can work with different types of radar. The pipeline implements several stages of signal abstraction: from the raw radar data to signal transformations, core and abstract machine learning features, detection and tracking, gesture probabilities, and finally UI tools to interpret gesture controls.

The flowers that Steve got brought home on Thursday night, a bottle of Gloria Ferrer's 1998 Carneros Cuvee, and a fancy S'mores kit from Recchiuti, in lieu of chocolates. The card in the picture is the one I gave to Steve, since he forgot to get one for me. It's not like he had 20 ingredients to buy for Valentine's Day dinner or my new tripod to bring home or anything... oh wait, he did.

The notes on the website for the cuvee, which we'll open tonight:

The 1998 Carneros Cuvee is a sophisticated and seamless celebration of complexity and finesse. The bouquet is a well-integrated array of aromas including ripe apple, Asian pear, brioche and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine's opulent mousse and creamy textures carry copious flavors of lemon, pear, cream, vanilla and toast through a rich, harmonious, eduring and refreshing finish.

Ignored by the welfare schemes and bypassed by the .

said that they had turned to dancing in bars when the factories .

conditions ofw9rk in those factories, they said, were no less .

exploitative. The State whose skewed policies in the first place .

Worked on a bunch of photography/business stuff today... gained some insight and made some headway I think.

This afternoon I photographed a few more architectural shots for the project that I've been working on for the past couple of days. I think I'm just about done.

I also found out that "My Name is Earl" has been cancelled. I'm bummed out. Why do we have to edure all the reality television in lieu of good scripted shows? There's a campaign on Twitter that's attempting to save Earl... just follow @EarlTwittion and tag your tweets with #SaveEarl. Hopefully another network will pick it up.

I also talked to a great friend tonight that I haven't heard from in a while. My friend Brian Stoltz is putting out a new record... sort of. Nobody's buying CD's anymore, so he's looking for a creative way to market the music and is sending me some songs to see about making a video or something.
