…before you fall.

Bipolar disorder affects approximately 5.7 million adult Americans, or about 2.6% of the U.S. population age 18 and older every year. (National Institute of Mental Health). The median age of onset for bipolar disorder is 25 years (National Institute of Mental Health), although the illness can start in early childhood or as late as the 40's and 50's. Bipolar disorder results in 9.2 years reduction in expected life span, and as many as one in five patients with bipolar disorder completes suicide. (National Institute of Mental Health). Please, please, please, educate yourself. If you think you, or someone you know, may be suffering from bipolar disorder, please look at the sites below. This means a lot to me and I will everyone to check these sites out.

Again, I cannot stress enough how important this is to me, so please, follow the links.

Anyway, I am back! And by back, I mean you won’t be able to get rid of me! Starting next Monday I will be uploading very often, I’m talking about every other day at the least. Tomorrow is my last day of school, the last day for exams, and with all of my free time this summer, I plan to fill up my empty 365!

I’m so excited! This summer will be awesome, I get to go to so many places, and take my camera with me. So, I’m really looking forward to the two months off I have from school; which, like always, has kept me away from flickr for the past few weeks.

I wanted to apologize to those who have mailed me or marked me as a contact recently, I have been swamped with studying for exams and I haven’t had time to look through anything on flickr. So, you can expect a reply within a few days!

I also wanted to thank all of you for the comments and favourites I received for my previous photo. That was my first explore #1, and I am very honoured!

Thank you bunches!

Oh, and facebook has filled my free time. Yes, I got one. Not so sure I’m liking the no privacy bit of it (parents constantly checking it), but I like chatting with my friends. I’m not sure yet if I’ll post a link for it on here or not, but if you want to add me, flickr mail me with your address and name etc.

So, what are you all doing for summer? Going anywhere fun?

It may be a little late for Earth day, but it's never to late to shed some light on a worthy cause.

My friend Karen recently watched a film about the misusage of one of our most precious resources: water.

Water is vital to life, so let's learn to share it, and not steal it. I will post a link to this cause/petition against the corporate giants who are doing this when I receive it, but for now educate yourself on the ways you can help.

Speaking of educating yourself, this is the first in my new series of photos that are aimed at a cause. So, if you feel strongly about a particular cause, flickr mail me, and I'll see what I can do to help!

In the mean time... My dad got an awesome camera today! It's a Casio EX-F1, which I am allowed to use! I cannot wait! Expect some awesome videos soon!

And In other news, I discovered my camera is waterproof. In fact, make that salt-water proof. I dropped it in the ocean. Genius, I know.

Oh, this was awful! I hated it haha. This was bad, really bad, haha. When I got out there, I would jump every 5 seconds because something would brush up against my legs, and I couldn’t see anything, and it was just bad… There are water moccasins, sting-rays, jellyfish, and yes, I have seen a few sharks and an alligator in the river/lagoon before. Needless to say, I was a little weary about going in there, but I had been wanting to do this for a month. So, hey, why not.

Cliché alert. 😁 Sometimes I really do pause and breath it all in. Life is hectic and I easily get lost in my tasks and projects I have in the works. In fact, my friends can attest to the latter two as I'm sure they're over hearing me talk about my new projects. AKA, I always have a new one. When we stop with the everyday routines and ongoing to do lists, we realize we're in the middle of living our lives. Because our lives aren't just after the tasks are done, nor when you launch something big. It's also the middle parts. So take a breather and go have a mini-adventure for an hour - even if it's just listening to a podcast (hint, hint), or exploring your neighborhood. Me? I'm catching up with a friend today, to hear all about his world.

T is for Truth. And it will set you free.

So i took this for Mission 24 ("Free"), and then my monitor died while i was editing it and i had to go and buy a new one (something i very much can't afford), and then, of course, i missed the submission deadline. Fuck it. Whatever. That's the sort of day i'm having.

Listen and learn.

WARNING-Graphic Hyper Violence within!!!!!

Notice - SKAM does not endorse the killing of oneself or others. SKAM endorses an open communication about the damage humans have done to our planet.

The Recycle Yourself Project is meant to invoke an emotion and discussion about such issues as Overpopulation, Pollution, Ecosystem Destruction Humans responsibility to the Environment, Culture Jamming, Art intervention and Anti-Commercialism/over-consumption.

The Recycle Yourself Philosophy

For billions of years the earth has recycled the life that has existed on it. Through a natural cycle. At one time the Human race followed that natural cycle. The humans lived hand and hand with the environment taking and giving back to the land. Even after death humans at one time gave their actual bodies back to the planet to decay in a natural way. Over time mankind has forgotten about our beautiful planet and how it created the life that exists on it. Then comes the age of the industrial revolution and corporations built upon mass consumerism. Marketing companies assault us ever day. By the time you are 5 years old you've already had 200,000 images planted into your brain from television and ad campaigns. This false reality is built and constructed into our minds to appear that if its sold on tv there is an unlimited supply. Buy buy buy this constructed ads tell us that there is nothing wrong with this behavior. The status quo is a false reality.

The real reality

Humans have already started what will be known as the 6th mass extinction on our planet. This has been created by the abuse we've done in the last 300 years to our mother earth. The western mindset has infected the entire planet. Kill, rape and pillage, give nothing back. Even in death humans turn themselves in plastic wrapped corspe's that seep poisons into the ground that in turn effect our drinking water. Cancer, disease, and viruses are a by-product of our planet trying to control this over consumerism culture. Mother earth will win this war in the end but it will be at the expense of all forms of life on our planet. Education is the only thing that will change this behavior. If you want to climb the mountain you don't just jump to the top. This change needs to happen in steps. The first is being aware of such steps. If humans so selfishly ignore these warning signs. Some day there will be no fish in the sea, no birds in the sky, no whales in the ocean, no dogs to follow their masters, no flowers to bloom, no bees to pollinate them. This is a reality.

Now you have to ask yourself?

Do you want to be responsible for a dead planet?

Any new submission will be used to further educate people about the mass destruction of ecosystems happening on our planet right now and in the future the designs will possibly be made into stickers/posters .

Take it for what it is and make it what you want

Artist mission statement

Recycle Yourself aims to intervene to prevent the "the 6th mass extinction on Planet Earth." Overpopulation, pollution, ecosystem destruction give rise to art intervention, culture jamming and a deep immersion into education.

The Recycle Yourself project has already been featured on a few recycling blog websites including daily kos.

From the sketchbook...1"x4"

February 19th 2013: Today I had the opportunity to be interviewed by a creative group of individuals. They said, "We are looking for someone who can wear many hats. Someone who is able to do not just their job but also fill in the role of others." In today's market, while its good to have a definite set of skills, its also great if we as creative people can diversify ourselves, or 'wear many hats'. One of the most important things that I have come across is to educate myself in this area. It's easy to pick up a camera and invest in gear. But if you don't have the knowledge to do what is expected of you, it becomes a big problem. So, apart from using common sense, never discount on educating yourself. Take the time and study.. It will go a long way. Learn from those willing to teach you and share the knowledge you have. David Hobby from strobist.com is a great example. He started to educate photography enthusiasts on how to light a photograph. Today he has more than a 112,000 followers all over the world and majority of them are huge fans of his blog. And even though I don't participate much, I still follow his blog and learn from reading his insights about lighting.
