This edit is made up of almost entirely adding different textures. I think it's amazing how much interest textures can add to an image. First I did a levels adj. layer. Then I added my own wood texture and applied just to the bench, to add detail and interest to the wood. I did the same thing to the sky, using one of my sky textures. Then I went crazy with different textures until I got the effect I was looking for, with various opacities and blend modes. Removed some texture from the kitty, added a touch of warmth and pop. I selectively sharpened the cat and the bench, as I wanted the background to kind of fade away. Then, since I wanted something to finish it off, I chose a basic frame. In order to tie it with the picture, I chose three textures I had used in my processing and clipped them to my frame. I think the colour and texture of the frame now look better with the image.
the image on the left was edited in Lightroom
the image on the right was done in another program...I am becoming a huge fan of lightroom
Panorama of the snowbank on the sidewalk in front of our house, and the main north-south road in Yubari, Hokkaido. Panorama taken this morning when a brief blizzard hit. We cleaned the car off at 7:00 AM and by 9:00 AM we had another 10 cm of snow on it.

Cropped original image. Applied a texture overlay. Black & white conversion. Cut out 2nd image & placed it on top of the original.
** Tip ** I made sure to not flatten the layers of the original image so that way when I dragged the 2nd image in, all the color adjustments automatically applied to it (making the 2 images blend as seamlessly as possible). : )
