I have no photo-editing fu to wield with this elder laptop while I am on the road, so here is this image more or less out of the camera, with a few very basic adjustments in brightness and color - I can hardly even see it with any clarity on this screen, so it is very likely that I will replace it in the fullness of time with a richer more ruly version of the same moment.

Bazuka Joe, one of the crowd-favorite boylesque trio The Stage Door Johnnies, performs this remarkable number on the opening night of the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend here in Las Vegas. His long controlled pole leaps almost seem to slip into slo-mo at their peaks, just as it should be for any self-respecting unicorn.

The crowd, as they say, goes wild.

Edit: I've gotten in there and cleaned up the image properly now - the quick pass laptop edit was pretty gunky, ultimately. Much better now.

My friend recommended I sign up for a Photo5 box a couple weeks back when we were both up at about 3am in the morning.

I had no idea what Photo5 was, nor did I know my friend was interested in photography. Quite a surprise!

And let's face it, who doesn't like free cardboard boxes?

So for the competition, the 5 briefs for this year are:

#1 Through a pet's eyes

#2 Foam (Macro)

#3 Sequins (Low light)

#4 Powder (Fast shutter)

#5 Ribbon (Panning)

I'm not sure if I'll be able to compete in all of them because my exams are really early and really squished, but I'll try my best to come up with ideas.
