A re-edit of a photo that I took over 15 years ago with my Canon PowerShot S60 in the first month that I owned it. The S60 launched me on a decade and a half career as a photographer. Revisiting the image, I de-noised it using a Topaz plugin in Photoshop, made adjustments and applied a lookup table in Luminar 4.
Hi !
This is not a new photo, but an old one I didn't retouched. I would like to try it, in order to know if I could sublime her.
With this new color, she is a like like a dream, stronger, more dramatic, cold and warm at the same time. I like it !
The picture without editing is here : www.flickr.com/photos/plai-sance/9191250167/
Just trying to work on my editing skills. It's one thing I need to make better. I'm not an expert at all on post processing and editing. It's an area I need to study. Edited in Lightroom 5
This is just an edit - I'm not sure how I feel about it, I might put another edit, or the original up at some point.
Anyway - on to more pressing issues. FREEFALL'S FIRST GIG IS TONIGHT!!! I'm so excited! Like I said yesturday, if you live in the Telford area, and have £5 to spare, you should get down to The Place in Oakengates to watch them play.
You can find more information at the link above. The gig starts at 7pm!
Back to this photograph. I took it a couple of days ago on the bridge near my house - I live right next to a railway. I just thought I'd edit and upload it today - the original is kind of boring.
So...PLEASE come to Freefall's gig tonight! They'll be playing a mix of rock and hard rock music - it'll be fun!
Thanks.
My girlfriend took this picture the other day. She’s always around me when I’m editing my MOCs.

Some Afols and Tfols say that some Afols have more likes and comments just because they are more popular. Sometimes that might be true but other times, it’s a completely different thing.
There are some lessons that help increase the number of Fav/likes and Comments.
I’m not the best to talk about this (I’m not that popular/expert), but maybe this might help you.
The problem with many Tfols and some Afols is very simple. They make a MOC and then post a photo without any planning or editing on Flickr/mocpages/facebook/whatever…
Taking a picture from a MOC and posting it is as important as the build itself. Sometimes I see very impressive builds but the photo quality is awful and it fails to show the MOC to the world. I know that because I made the same mistakes when I was a TFOL.
For example:
1º Dark photos without any light is the worst. Nobody will see a picture if the MOC isn’t visible. Try to have a good light always near.
Also, there are some people that love to post pictures with a big flash. Never, never use the flash.
2º Background: some pictures at Flickr are unique because they show better the Kitchen, garden, room or even the toilet where the photo was taken than the MOC itself. The best thing is to eliminate the background completely.
3º Color: Yes, military builds are always grey or green, no room for shining colors. But sometimes if you just add a small yellow or red stripe to your MOC, the MOC literally becomes ten times more attractive!
4º Number of pictures. That’s the biggest problem. Some Afols take and post at Flickr as much as 10 pictures from the same MOC. It’s not bad, but if you are looking for a great number of likes, that’s a real problem. When another Afol sees your pictures, he will “fav” the one or two he likes and not the "main" one, the one which you are trying to achieve as many views as possible. Post only one or two pictures. If you want to show details, send the user to another folder on Brickshelf where you can post all the pictures you want.
5º Never tell your age. Nobody needs to know. Who cares?
6º Photoshop, very important! Photoshop helps a lot, there you can modify your builds, improve the quality of the picture (increase light or decrease it), clean the area around the MOC, etc, etc…
7º You have almost 7000 groups talking about LEGO on Flickr. But some Afols never post their builds on those groups. How are we going to see your MOC if you don’t let as see it?
So, I hope this helps a little.

Chinese steamer 8419 crosses the Des Moines River. The best smoke show they put on was way before the middle, but I'll take what I can get! This steam engine was the last one built in China in 1988, and sent straight over to the US, hence the American and Chinese flags at the front. Even our steam engines come from China....AUGH!!!!!
