If you never searched for truth
come with us
and you will become a seeker.
If you were never a musician
come with us
and you will find your voice…
In our gathering one candle lights hundreds,
we will light your path and give you courage
so you will open like a flower
and join in joyous laughter.
Plant the seed of truth and watch it grow
when it spreads its branches
come with us and sit under the blossoms.
Your eyes will open to the secret of the truth.

HSS!
it was in the Bleak December,"
~ Edgar Allan Poe
I hope you will take a minute to view this in Large.
Thank you so much for your visit!
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

.......prayers and thoughts for innocent in Paris.....
And all my days are trances,
And all my nightly dreams
Are where thy dark eye glances,
And where thy footstep gleams. Edgar Allen Poe

They shut the road through the woods
Seventy years ago.
Weather and rain have undone it again,
And now you would never know
There was once a road through the woods
Before they planted the trees.
It is underneath the coppice and heath,
And the thin anemones. - Rudyard Kipling

Do you remember that psychological thriller by Edgar Allen Poe, 'The Tell-Tale Heart' (1843)? Recall the element of time between the thumping of the murderer's heart and the imagined heart of his victim hidden under his floor boards...
Well, if you do, then you will understand immediately what went through my own mind when I saw this scene. This photo was taken 'through' the old clock of the famous railway station Gare d'Orsay, now a wonderful musuem. In the distance is one of Paris's many icons, the relatively new Basilica of the Sacred Heart...

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore.

This is sort of a Halloween theme, but more about the gothic atmosphere of Halloween rather than the scary bits.
Add in a little Edgar Allen Poe, and this is the result.

Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears. - Edgar Allen Poe
There is certainly no absolute standard of beauty. That precisely is what makes its pursuit so interesting. -
John Kenneth Galbraith
We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. - Jawaharlal Nehru
If eyes were made for seeing, then Beauty is it's own excuse for being. -
Ralph Waldo Emerson
People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within. -
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they're still beautiful. -

It is good to realize that if love and peace can prevail on earth, and if we can teach our children to honor nature's gifts, the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be here forever. - Jimmy Carter
I know the world is filled with troubles and many injustices. But reality is as beautiful as it is ugly. I think it is just as important to sing about beautiful mornings as it is to talk about slums. I just couldn't write anything without hope in it. - Oscar Hammerstein

Quotes from The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES AND INVITES.
As we were walking to our can in the Lake Louise parking lot, we spotted this massive raven perched on top of a big white truck.
This was as close as I could get before it squarked and flapped away on its big, black wings.
From here we move on to Banff National Park.
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.” “Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
"A Dream Within a Dream"

This street in Rimini is named after Federico Fellini's segment of the anthology film Spirits of the Dead. The other directors involved in the project were Roger Vadim & Louis Malle.
I just watched this segment included in Criterion's Essential Fellini blu ray box set. It looked really good. I have seen the other episodes, & I agree with the consensus that Fellini's is the best of the three.

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting, and his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming, and the lamp-light over him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor, shall be lifted nevermore.
- Edgar Allen Poe.
Another from my shoot with Seanen on Friday. I found this prop raven on ebay last week and knew I had to buy it and shoot with it when we met, and the wasteland turned out to be the perfect location.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.
Edgar Allan Poe
"And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!" -Edgar Allan Poe
This post was inspired from probably my favourite poem. It's hauntingly tones have stuck with me ever since I read it in high school. Little did I know that years later the raven would visit me and I think I could relate to the poem a little. Nevermore.
