I walked out of Eastleigh Shopping Centre and I noticed Spider (Ian) fiddling with a pocket watch, the chain of which appeared to be snagged in his waistcoat.
His head was bowed and I couldn't see he face, but his striking blazer, hat, shirt and highly polished (bulled) shoes were real attention grabbers.
I approached and initiated a conversation re his smart dress. I thought perhaps he was ex-military as bulled shoes isn't something you see every day. This wasn't the case however, Spider was in town to do some business and takes pride over his appearance.
Spider originates from Acton, West London and had been involved in a long running family auction business all his life. I asked Spider about his tattoos, he has been a lover of spiders all his life and has one on his cheek and on both ear lobes.
I asked if the teardrop tattoos held any significance. They were in memory of his late grandfather an influential character in his life who was greatly missed, every morning when he sees the reflection, he utters a "Hello Grandad" to himself.
A very nice all round gent!
Spider is No. 51 in my 100 strangers project.

From Dingboche - view of Ama Dablam changes - it becomes a twin peak... we approach the sunset as the color changes
Some flowers I came across. I'm not sure what kind they are.
Camera used was a Pentax K20D, lens used was a manual focus, M42 EBC Fujinon 50mm 1.4. Shot between f1.4 - f2. Captured in RAW, processed in Apple Aperture then fine tuned in Adobe Photoshop. All work done on a Mac.
I do not shoot with this lens very often. It's an M42, EBC Fujinon 50mm 1.4. EBC stands for "Electro Beam Coating" that Fuji pioneered in the 1970's. The optical coatings are applied with an electrical current to the glass elements. Most multi-coating processes use optical glue, even today. I don't believe Fuji manufactures 35mm lenses any longer. Fuji does manufacture Medium Format and Large Format (Land or 8x12) film lenses. It's a shame Fuji no longer manufactures 35mm camera lenses; the EBC coatings are quite good.
The three peaks which share the same ridge.. Pumori (left), Lingtren (middle peak) Khumbutse to the right
Distinctly Nepali is the Eyes on the Stupa... as we pay respect... Ama Dablam peaks on the other side
The mound head at the base of Pumori is Kalapathar peak. Here you climb up to get up close and personal with Everest (read a clearer view of Everest)
There is a stark change in the landscape as we move toward Phungi thanka... we have entered the world above tree lines where one side is high mountains and moraines from the Glacier
It was a scary experience to cross this bridge as this was a first one - we crossed I guess around 7 to reach Namche. They are very safe, only looking down is a little challenging in the beginning
