It has been a very long time since last visiting London Gatwick, the airport being EasyJet's largest base so don't be too surprised to see nearly everything that the low-cost carrier has to offer!

Prior to COVID-19, EasyJet had been in the midst of a major expansion and fleet renewal programme; with the Airbus A319s continuing to be phased out and new Airbus A320neos being introduced now across their three subsidiaries (UK, Europe and Switzerland). Amongst the fleet since last visiting London Gatwick, EasyJet have since taken delivery of the larger Airbus A321neo which are being used on their higher-profile routes.

EasyJet ordered the Airbus A321neo after swapping an order of 30 Airbus A320neos for the larger variant back in 2017, with the first examples being delivered a year later in 2018... Today, EasyJet have 15 Airbus A321neos in service split between their UK and Europe subsidiaries.

Since COVID-19, EasyJet has restarted deliveries of Airbus A320neos since they were deferred until after 2021; with parts of the order even at risk of being cancelled following a dispute between current management and former chairman and founder, Stelios Haji-Ioannou. The board of directors in the end voted unanimously to keep the Airbus contract in 2020 and a year later with the threat of Wizz Air taking over having been rejected, the Haji-Ioannou's lost their controlling stake in the low-cost carrier.

Things do seem to be looking up after what has been a challenging 2022 for the entire aviation industry... The carrier announced at the Farnborough 2022 International Air Show that the carrier will take delivery of an additional 18 Airbus A321neos which were conversions from their existing Airbus A320neo order book.

Currently, EasyJet operates 324 Airbus A320 family aircraft, which includes 93 Airbus A319s (56 with EasyJet UK, 35 with EasyJet Europe and 2 with EasyJet Switzerland), 172 Airbus A320ceos (66 with EasyJet UK, 86 with EasyJet Europe and 20 with EasyJet Switzerland), 44 Airbus A320neos (33 with EasyJet UK, 6 with EasyJet Europe and 5 with EasyJet Switzerland), and 15 Airbus A321neos (10 with EasyJet UK and 5 with EasyJet Europe). EasyJet have 128 Airbus A320neos and 33 Airbus A321neos on-order.

Uniform Zulu Mike Juliet is one of 10 Airbus A321neos operated by EasyJet UK, delivered new to the low-cost carrier on 21st July 2020 and she is powered by 2 CFM International LEAP-1A32 engines.
