Hello Everyone,
For Earth Day, I wanted to post an image of a rare native orchid. The habitat of the Western prairie fringed orchid is Tall-Grass Prairie. As many of you are probably aware, this habitat has dramatically decreased over the years in North Amerca. In Canada, this lovely wildflower is found only at the southeast tip of Manitoba with most of the specimens within the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve. It is considered endangered In Canada (SARA) and Manitoba (MBES&EA). I was very fortunate to be able to see and photograph these lovely orchids a few years ago.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you.
Have a wonderful day!

not too sure really, it looked like it to me at first but after 5 or 10 minutes of this they walked side by side as if they were friends and then a few minutes later started chasing each other around again...we watched them for close on 40 minutes and each time I was wondering are they friends fooling around or male dominance display...

22 September is world Rhino day...please keep them safe forever, for all our children's children to enjoy and for humanity as a whole! They have been persecuted for far too long..not a day goes by that they are not being poached in Africa!

The Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus) is a passerine bird in the sparrow family with a rich chestnut crown and nape, and a black patch on each pure white cheek.
Yesterday we had about 5cm of snow covering the ground. Winter is not done with us yet, after spring had officially started for a whole month.
♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥
“Trees teach us to stay rooted while soaring to great heights.” - Kaylee Brzezinski
The trees we find along the Bruce Trail have incredible root systems that often cling onto mainly rock. Some of them are as old as 300-400 years old. It is a wonder how they hang on and survive many storms. This tree is not quite that old and it leans over the river that flows over one of our local waterfalls. The root system is still very impressive. We all need to help each other stay rooted. Have a great weekend.
Located on the west coast of Greenland, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, Greenland’s Ilulissat Icefjord is the sea mouth of Sermeq Kujalleq, one of the few glaciers through which the Greenland ice cap reaches the sea. Sermeq Kujalleq is one of the fastest and most active glaciers in the world. It annually calves over 35 km3 of ice, i.e. 10% of the production of all Greenland calf ice and more than any other glacier outside Antarctica. Studied for over 250 years, it has helped to develop our understanding of climate change and icecap glaciology. The combination of a huge ice-sheet and the dramatic sounds of a fast-moving glacial ice-stream calving into a fjord covered by icebergs makes for a dramatic and awe-inspiring natural phenomenon.

“Earth care, as it turns out, is really about self-care and other-care. What we design today impacts how we live tomorrow. For better or for worse, it impacts far into upcoming generations.” ― L.L. Barkat
Have a beautiful Earth Day!🌿🌻
Thank you very much for the kind comments and faves, much appreciated!🙋♀️
In honour of Earth Day 2021 on April 22, I wanted to repost a couple of my favourite Spring woodland scenes which I’ve reprocessed, this one in Francis/King Regional Park, Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC...so lucky to live on one of the most beautiful places on earth!
Francis/King Regional park gets its name from the surnames of James Francis whose father purchased the property in the 1840s and his good friend Thomas (the Skipper) King. James Francis was a lover of nature, refusing to donate his land to the city of Victoria as well as declining monetary offers from others to log the land. Later on in his senior years, he was going to will his property to Thomas; however, Thomas convinced him that turning it over to the province for parkland was the best idea.( Source CRD.BC.ca)

Perfect night no dew, hay still dry, wind rows begin and baler waits to make the round. Catching the sunrise colors as well as the hay field texture meant a lot to me as well as the bank of fog in between. Thanks for the faves on this frame. Once I finished working this frame I could smell fresh cut hay so for me it was achievement of another level. Hayfield in rural northeast Oklahoma.
The time has come,' the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of shoes - and ships -
and sealing-wax -
Of cabbages - and kings -
And why the sea is boiling hot-
And whether pigs have wings.’
From Lewis Carroll's "The Walrus and the Carpenter"
"Why the sea is boiling hot”?
In this clever and ironic poem Carroll uses animals to allude to human deception and trickery.
Oceans are the cradle of life and we are polluting them, choking them with plastics, and catastrophically warming them with human induced climate change. We are over- fishing and destroying the habitat of the noble creatures that inhabit them.
I think that Carroll would agree that on this Earth Day, it’s no longer the time to talk, it’s time to ACT. Please join me in making a donation to Greenpeace who have been doing a great job of protecting our oceans.

Despite the current snow storm in the latter part of this month of April, people still walk outside for many reasons. Earth Day is today, April 22nd, 2021. So a good way to save on fossil fuel and pay homage to Earth Day.
The Earth and her Life forms need our protection more that ever.
Did you know our pandemic is a result of habitat destruction and overcrowding of species?
Years of research has clearly made that case. Here is just one resent article on that: ecologyforthemasses.com/2021/02/18/from-deforestation-to-...
--- Or do a web search for: ' habitat destruction - overcrowding causing virus jumps to humans '

Happy earth day!

Our fragile and unfortunately dying earth ..... in the "space" of an egg.
Guys...if we "all" don't act "now", we will no longer be able to save our planet, our living space!!!

Why do we have Earth Day? It is a day dedicated to finding a balance between the wilderness that we love and the relative abundance we enjoy. Whether we choose to be or not - we are a part of the ecosystem - let's do our best to make the system better - I certainly want to enjoy it to my last day (hopefully many decades from now), and the I hope those that come after enjoy it to the last days of all my descendants, literal or otherwise. We can't live without the Earth (at least not yet). So maybe we should try and make a nice place to live.
