thanks a lot for your kind comments and faves!
and have a happy saturday evening :)))
This is such a special place for us and I always like to get up very early, once in a while, to go and get some sunrise shots here. I could watch these waves roll in to this shore all day
On Thursday late afternoon I found a ladybird on the pavement. February is still a bit early! I took the insect to our garden. I hope it survived the frosty nights.

Da ich gerade mit einer Sehnenscheidenentzündung am Handgelenk kämpfe und die Kamera mal liegen lassen muss, greife ich weiter ins Urlaubs-Archiv. :-)

What I love is to get out of my bed really early. When everyone else is still sleeping. When the world awakes and I seem to be the only one watching. When light turns grey into colors. When there's a special silence. That's what I like an what I want to share with you.
Do you have similar or any other moments you like - combined with your photography?
I think the one sure fire macro subject this morning was the Seven-spot Ladybird, they were everywhere and all covered in lovely dew.
I'm quite looking forward to more of these early morning sessions, looking forward to finding more and more subjects as the Spring progresses. The down side is from here to June, I'm going to have to get up earlier and earlier, but then the thought of morning Odonata is really egging me on.
Gotta go into town now to source coloured backgrounds and some crocodile clips I think :o)
Ooooooh just passed the 50,000 views of my photostream, thanks to all :o)

herein lies (part of) the problem: the sun officially sets these days around midnight, and rises at 3am — so certain small cats wake up and start being busy... which is hard to sleep through
(photo take at 3:32am)
Early bird comes from a seventeenth century English proverb, "The early bird catches the worm".
An early bird, in people, is someone who does something or goes somewhere very early, especially very early in the morning.
Waikare Inlet is adjacent to Opua Marina, Bay of Islands, NZ. Early morning is quiet, however as the day builds, things become busy and many dinghies can be seen coming across into the dock (bottom right, out of sight) to buy provisions, etc. Boats moored in the stream with dinghies attached have people living/sleeping aboard. At this time of year (Summer) there are many overseas boats/sailors coming in and Opua is the first port they are required to come into for New Zealand Customs inspections. Some stay in the area all Summer, while others explore around New Zealand a little, before heading back overseas in April/May before the South Pacific cyclones start.
