50010 'Monarch' at West Ealing, heading an afternoon Paddington-Oxford Train in july 1988. The Hoover would sadly be withdrawn just a couple of months later.
1988-03-30: Metro Vickers electric locomotive 12 Sarah Siddons at South Ealing Underground station, at the time operating as a break block test locomotive for the Director of Mechanical Engineering.

13/06/14 West Ealing: Mendip Rail / DB Cargo Class 59 59102 approaches the station with 7A09 Merehead - Acton.
The platforms have since been extended for Crossrail and a new bay platform built on the right for the Greenford branch.
An Elizabeth Line led by Class 345 no. 345034 (Bombardier, 2015-2019) is seen arriving at Ealing Broadway Station on its way to central London and beyond. In the background are London Underground trains, as this station is also a terminus for the Central and District Lines.

The concrete monstrosity that is Ealing Hospital, seen from Brent Meadow. A contrast to the view in the opposite direction.
London Transport CO and CP stock, dating from 1937, dominated this general view of Ealing depot on Saturday 7th August 1976, with a solitary battery locomotive, Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. 1936-built L35. The introduction of the C69-stock on the District Line from the early 1970s resulted in the withdrawal of this entire type of stock by 1981.

An unidentified 'Hymek' class 35 diesel hydraulic passes through Ealing Broadway on 29 December 1972, heading a westbound service.
One of those working peeps had been waiting for. VW 92 has already happened handful of times, but as for something else - nope, till now.
The traffic conditions in the Greenford and Northolt area had been murder for last couple of weeks - I don't know what the hell is going on as it's not normally this bad. But that resulted in the bus being turned to Greenford Broadway several times in a row, and it only reached Ealing Hospital only when it got dark!
Now we need more VW G strays, somebody suggested 482 and 95, I wouldn't mind at all! :P

Avenue / Odeon / ECC, Ealing. Opened as the Avenue Cinema in 1932, design in Spanish Atmospheric style by Cecil Masey, and seating 1,536 in stalls and balcony levels. It was sold to Odeon in 1936 and was almost immediately renamed, lasting until 1980 when it was leased and renamed Coronet until closure in January 1985. By then, the building was in a poor state, made worse when it became the Top Hat Nightclub in 1988. This was not a success and closed in 1994, after which it was acquired by the Ealing Pentecostal Church, reopening as the Ealing Community Church in June 2001. The former Avenue is grade 2* listed, and the church have done a commendable amount of restoration, revealing the glorious Spanish architecture, as originally designed, once more.

The crumpled remains of corridor composite W16222 (Derby 1961), almost destroyed during the Ealing rail crash of 19 December 1973, this view taken on the following day.
Scanned from a negative taken by Alec Swain, now in my collection.
The crumpled remains of BR Class 50 50025 - ironically named ''Invincible'' - in the (then..) Sainsburys car park at West Ealing, after the derailment and crash in August 1989, caused by a length of rail deliberately placed across the running line..
The loco was scrapped after this, in October, and the last of the class was withdrawn in 1994, but today (2020) there are no less than eighteen examples preserved - and the main lines through here are electrified.

Wearing the InterCity Swallow livery, 43185 is at the rear of 1115hrs GWR service from Paddington to Swansea passing through Ealing Broadway. Due to the closure of the Severn Tunnel for electrification works, the train was diverted via Gloucester between Swindon and Newport.
This is the second HST powercar after receiving a #RetroTrain livery for the 40th anniversary of the High Speed Train. 43002 also wears a heritage livery.
