One half of the Class 210 units, 210002, is photographed at Ealing Broadway with a Newbury-Paddington service in August 1984. This unit was formed of three cars, whereas 210001 was formed of 4 cars. The pair of DEMU prototypes proved too complex and costly for further units to be produced, and both were withdrawn by 1987/88......

as it was once known. A terrace of four Late Georgian/Early Victorian homes that were quite run down when I first arrived in Ealing forty years ago.

HST Power Car 43161 has a trailer car and what looks like a barrier vehicle in tow. Sent out on test by Old Oak perhaps?

On Wednesday 19 December 1973, the 17.18 Paddington to Oxford was derailed between Ealing Broadway and West Ealing resulting in 10 dead and 94 injured. The cause turned out to be an insecure door of a battery box on the locomotive - D1007 Western Talisman - which broke away, hitting rodding, the points moving under the train as it passed over them.
This was the scene on the following morning, with class 47 1644 attending with the breakdown crane from Old Oak Common. D1007 was withdrawn following the accident and scrapped at Swindon in February 1975.

Class 121 no. W55023 (L123), awaits departure from Ealing Broadway for Greenford on 29 December 1972, while an unidentified English Electric type 3 (class 37) passes light engine westbound.
1988-03-30: Metro Vickers electric locomotive 12 Sarah Siddons at South Ealing Underground station, at the time operating as a break block test locomotive for the Director of Mechanical Engineering.

50010 'Monarch' at West Ealing, heading an afternoon Paddington-Oxford Train in july 1988. The Hoover would sadly be withdrawn just a couple of months later.
13/06/14 West Ealing: Mendip Rail / DB Cargo Class 59 59102 approaches the station with 7A09 Merehead - Acton.
The platforms have since been extended for Crossrail and a new bay platform built on the right for the Greenford branch.
