Shimotori-san runs this shop within electric city (in Akihabara) which carries technical documentation and... historical insights into the place she works in!

update: about 6 months down the line I went back, printed the flickr jpeg at a kombini nearby and gave it to her :-)

Repke de Vries wrote for more information:

Hi Monicah

thx for your examples - they arrived fine. Trying to uncover what your work is about and then put it up on that web page: can you please check the following info and correct / add where necessary - appreciated:

1) You work at one of the libraries or at the IT department of Kenyatta University in Kenya ?

Please give some detail or a web address:

[I checked www.ku.ac.ke/ : this is BIG ; I also see in my Google search that you do e-learning with Moodle: wow]

2) Your Greenstone collection are Exam Papers: for all faculties ?

The Exam Papers collection covers .... (please add some info):

3) The searchable exam papers are intended for students, I suppose. Correct ?

4) Given the choice between full text searching and browsing, I conclude from screenshot 1 that you opted for full text searching as the main functionality for this user group under 3) And secondly for browsing on Title and File Name - both metadata elements probably being extracted automatically.

Correct ? Please explain a bit: ....

5) Access: from the IP address (192.168 etc.) I conclude that you give access on an Intranet or Campus ..

Correct ? Please add some info..

It is also interesting for your colleagues in the Support Network to learn about so called Intellectual Property Right Issues and Open Access: did you look into these access policy for this collection ?

Access policy: ... (would be nice to have some info)

Much obliged, Repke de Vries

During the Virus epidemic, students had to learn to study away from the classroom and at home, sometimes well into the night, studying for the end of the year finals

First E-Learning Day Activity:

This photo sold for 3.8 million in 2011 becoming the world's most expensive photograph at the time. Do you think it deserves this price tag? Critique this photo using the method we use on Fridays during critique. Answer ALL of the following questions: What principles does this photo use? Are the principles used effectively? How and why? Be specific! Do find this photo to be engaging? Why? If you could, what would you have done different for this photo? Would you buy this photo, why or why not?

***think about this question when answering whether or not the photo is engaging: does this look more like a still from a movie than a photograph? Does this make it more or less interesting?

this part was printed on the left page, while this one was printed on the right page.

e learning is the use of technology to enable people to learn anytime and anywhere. e-Learning can include training, the delivery of just-in-time information and guidance from experts.

Chloramines, the end product of the chemical reaction of chlorine with sweat and pee in public swimming pools. The smell of "chlorine" that is stronger when children are in the pool is not chlorine - now you know. [Nitrogen is blue, chlorine is yellow and hydrogen is white.] Paper tetrahedral models of the guilty molecules.

To view in 3D cross your eyes so that you are seeing three blurred images in a line. Pay attention to the middle image and wait for your brain to refocus your eyes on the monitor. When that happens you will have locked on to the 3D image of models floating in space.

The nets and all you need to make these and a host of other organic molecule models for yourself are in a series of articles here ... 122.155.162.144/nsm2009/e-learning/English_version/Scienc... ... by Ian Jacobs for NSM Thailand. (Not iPad or phone friendly.)

The colours are traditional. Blue for nitrogen,, white for hydrogen and yellow (or pale green) for chlorine. Most space filling models have the atoms as spherical but that way provides no natural attachment points. With modified tetrahedra the attachment points are there naturally with approximate bond angles. I find it interesting that these are instantly recognised as molecular models when people have not seen them done like this. It is only recently that I realised that they would make good stereo subjects.

Enhorabuena a

todos, y con el permiso de todos pongo estas fotos como recuerdo del

evento y para descargarlas cuando queráis. Mi presentación está en www.eduvlog.org/2010/11/web-20-aplicada-la-ensenanza.html
