The space in this composition is pretty deep. The different values in color make the branches seem relatively distant as you look at the picture.
Yes, there's dominate movement. The movement was created by varying the thickness of the branches and the size of the leaves and flowers.
The heaviest shape is probably the branch with the darkest value (the one that appears "closer"). Yes, the weight and important match.
The negative space makes the picture easier to see how the value changes. All the branches are equidistant with white space.
this image is an example of using dynamic tension to display contrasting lines. this causes the viewer to constantly reorient thier point of view in order to fully understand the image being depicted.
Testing the dynamic range of my D80. In the top row, the histogram of the centrally placed grey card was centered by adjusting the exposure. Then using M mode, this exposure was decreased by 4 stops on left and increased by 4 stops on right.
The left most column in each pair is at ISO 100, the rightmost at ISO 1600. At least 7 stops range here.
