Resumbitting for "distress" week...
My scrap was a fairly large one: the dye colored background with the tree stamped onto it. I made this piece last week, playing around with various distress inks. So, I decided to incorporate it into my card.
It was still too wet for me to use when I had time last week, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out we could use scraps this week. I added the "thanks" sentiment and assembled the card for this week's challenge.
Materials used:
* cardstock: cream and dark brown
* Creative Memories Corner Rounder
* Fadeless art board
* Hero Arts CL184 Thoughtful Messages ("thanks")
* Hero Arts S5037 DesignBlock Tree
* Ranger Inkssentials Non-Stick Craft Sheet
* ribbon
* Tim Holtz Distress Inks: broken china (blue), peeled paint (green), tea dye (background), and walnut stain (stamped images)

Resubmitting for the Spring challenge! :-)
One of my friends has triplets that are about to turn one year old. So I decided to make a fun card in the shape of the number 1 for their birthday! This is the resulting card and matching envelope. There is just a bit of pale green dye sponged between the bunnies on the envelope to give that hint of grass!
When making this card, I selected a very thick patterned cardstock by BoBunny for the card base. And because the main part of the card is so narrow, I didn't want to add a lot of bulk to the front that would make it imbalanced and not stand up well for display. That's why I decided to keep things simple with paper piercing and embossing, and why I adhered the bunnies directly to the card without pop dots.
Materials used:
* A2 envelope (to hold 4.25" x 5.5" card)
* bone folder
* BoBunny Double Dot double-sided cardstock: Wasabi (green)
* cardstock: white
* chipboard from food product to make template
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Hero Arts CL139 Birthday Messages ("happy birthday")
* Hero Arts CL153 Happy Day Animals (bunnies)
* Hero Arts CL155 Playful Animals ("hip hip hooray")
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Giga punch (purple): 3" circle (when making template)
* mousepad
* needle
* Odorless mineral spirits (OMS) - Mona Lisa brand (Michael's)
* pencil
* Prismacolor Premier colored pencils
* Ranger Archival Ink (waterproof): jet black
* Ranger embossing powder: seafoam white
* ruler
* Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop (dye ink): new sprout (pale green)
* Tsukineko Sponge Daubers (I **love** these!)
* Tsukineko VersaMark watermark ink
Thanks for looking!
-------------------------------------
Edited to add:
The triplets were born on Easter Sunday last year (March 23rd) which is why I used the bunnies! :-)
You can download a template for this card from my blog, Gaal Creative.

Not for a challenge, just for fun. (No Hero Arts stamps.)
I absolutely love the way this card turned out. I made it with Distress Inks and textured cardstock. It was one of the simplest cards I've ever made - yet one of the most stunning, in my opinion!
Materials used:
* cardstock, textured: pale yellow, vivid red, and muted teal
* Inkadinkado 97163-DD Flourished Fall Tree wood stamp
* Plaid All Night Media Posh Impressions by Dee Gruenig 550G06 Hilltop wood stamp
* Ranger Inkssentials Non-Stick Craft Sheet
* Tim Holtz Distress Inks: spiced marmalade (orange), broken china (blue), and pine needles (green)

The background for this card is made from 140# cold-pressed watercolor paper (Canson Montval). I placed it on my non-stick craft sheet and used a blending tool and foam to apply Broken China, Scattered Straw, and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. Then I used sponge daubers (Hero Arts MI002) to apply Faded Jeans, Wild Honey, and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks along the top and bottom edges.
Next I stamped music from Hero Arts CG279 Musical Clef along the top edge using Broken China Distress Ink. I used a paper towel to remove some of the ink before stamping, to give it a distressed look. Then I stamped the long botanical grass or willow image from Hero Arts CL428 Earth Flowers on top, using Wild Honey Distress Ink. And then I stamped a leaf image from Hero Arts CL477 Delicate Leaf Clusters using Tea Dye Distress Ink.
Next, I used a mini-mister to dribble water and immediately dried it using my Heat It craft tool (heat gun) for water splotchies. Then I mixed bronze Perfect Pearls with water on my non-stick craft sheet and used a paint brush to flick the metallic bronze all over the piece. I used my heat tool to dry it. Then, I stamped "Heartfelt Wishes" from Hero Arts CL272 All Occasion Messages using Memento Rhubarb Stalk dye ink.
The large butterfly is made from white cardstock. I stamped a butterfly from Hero Arts CL383 Antique Engravings using Ranger Archival Ink waterproof ink in jet black. Then I colored it using Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick, and Fired Brick Distress Inks applied with sponge daubers. I carefully cut out the butterfly and then added glitter to the edge of its wings using a Sakura clear glitter gel pen. I attached the butterfly using foam squares for dimension. See a close-up here.
The smaller butterflies were made by applying Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint to pink cardstock. Once it was dry, I used punches to punch out the butterfly shapes. They are attached using Glossy Accents as glue.
I added a border to the top and bottom of the focal piece using Fiskars Sunburst Border Punch. I wrapped it with metallic gold elastic cord and attached it to a kraft card base to finish it off.
Part of my inspiration for this card was the Day 4 prompt in my friend Christy's (Gulfsprite's) 30 Days of Art Journaling class.

One of our favorite charities is the Carolina Raptor Center. They care for and rehabilitate birds of prey like eagles, hawks, and owls. I wanted to make a card to thank their staff, so naturally I thought of using an owl stamp!
I decided to put the owl in front of a pretty full moon, made from patterned paper. (I don't know why he looks so orange in the picture, he's really more of a golden brown than orange.) The owl is raised on pop dots for dimension.
Materials used:
* American Crafts ribbon: from "Boutique Amber" collection

* Clearsnap/Colorbox Fluid Chalk Queue: Bisque color from Pumpkin Patch set

I took this picture before I adhered the "thank you" sentiment on the scalloped circle to the inside of the card (shown here in front of the card), just so that you could see it.
I used Glossy Accents to make the doll's hair shiny. She is raised on pop dots above the scalloped circle, and the fan is raised on more pop dots for even more dimension. Also, it's a little hard to see in the photo, but the butterflies on the ribbon have a bit of glitter and shine to them. I love the "painterly look" that I got with the DesignBlock Flourish stamp on the acetate!
I was inspired to put the doll in a blue circle with black scallops after seeing cards made by a friend of mine, Sandy.
Materials used:
* cardstock: white, textured blue, textured black
* Clearsnap/Colorbox pigment ink: black (thank you sentiment)
* Dress It Up Petals (larger blue flower gemstone)

Resubmitting for "distress" week...
Hi! I was so excited to read about Deloris' Catalog CASE challenge! It sounded like so much fun, and I had just acquired the Heart Flourish stamp and was dying to use it!
I selected the tag on page 71 of the Hero Arts 2009 catalog to CASE. The tag was made by Sally Traidman and features the Heart Flourish stamp. I was inspired to make this card based on a beautiful one-layer card created by Anette Hjerpaasen of Norway. I was so taken by the sunset effect in Anette's card. And I really liked the torn edge of the "grass", too. These details are what inspired me to create this card.

Resubmitting. I made this card for a friend of mine who is going through a painful divorce. Just wanted to let her know I'm here if she wants or needs anything.
The use of sponged dye inks to make a background was inspired by my friend Suzanne's (stampersuzz's) Birthday Card. She did such an excellent job with the technique that she made it look easy! Her sponged inks are soft and transition smoothly. I just had to try it!
I made the backgrounds for the stamped images and sentiment using white cardstock and dye inks. I used Broken China Distress Ink and New Sprout Memento dye ink. I sponged the inks onto the white cardstock using a sponge pouncer from the stenciling section of my big box craft store.
On top of that I stamped Hero Arts' H4039 Stitched Rectangles using VersaFine Vintage Sepia ink. Then I stamped Inkadinkado's 97163 Flourished Fall Tree inside of the triple stitched rectangles. Then I trimmed the cardstock and mounted it onto dark brown cardstock.
For the sentiment, I used Hero Arts' CL129 Anytime Messages. I used a corner rounder and edged the piece with VersaFine Vintage Sepia ink. I punched two holes using a 1/8" punch and tied a piece of green ribbon through it.
Finally, I assembled the card. To finish it off, I used Hero Arts' CH130 Citron Gemstones.
Thanks for looking!
I think this card could work well for a masculine or feminine birthday. Details on how I made this card can be found on my blog, Gaal Creative. (Not for a challenge.)
Thanks for looking! :-)
I was really excited to see that Jennifer picked Thank You cards for this week's theme.

Materials used:
* cardstock: white and periwinkle blue
* Hero Arts AR135 Flourish Branch (an Archiver's exclusive): Thank You sentiment
* Hero Arts CL117 Snowflake Background
* Hero Arts LP107 DL: Flourish Borders
* Ranger embossing powder: seafoam white

I stamped the candles image using a waterproof dye ink. Then, I colored it in using colored pencils and blended them with odorless mineral spirits. Next, I colored over the yellow pencil in the flames with yellow Stickles™ glitter glue.
Then, I cut the remaining pieces. I added the ribbon to the base card, made from patterned paper. And, once the Stickles™ were dry, I assembled the rest of the card. I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment using the same ink.
Materials used:
Hero Arts® E1212 Bold Birthday Candles
Hero Arts® CL139 Clear Design™ Birthday Messages
Deja Views® Fresh Print® FP-801 Plum Collage patterned paper

Resubmitting for favorites week! The Silhouette Corner is becoming one of my favorite "go to" stamps! :-)
My Thank You card is based on Kelly Rasmussen's adorable Hello Mini card. I just got the Silhouette Corner stamp the other day and I've been dying to try it out. Also, a lot of the ladies featured with a "Day on the Hero Arts Blog" this week said they prefer a blue, green, and brown color scheme ... which I don't use very often. So I wanted to challenge myself to give it a try.
Materials used:
* Bo Bunny Double Dot Paper: Shitake Dot
* cardstock: white
* cardstock textured: pool blue and spring green
* EK Success 3D-Dots - 1/16" squares
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Hero Arts CH130 Citron Gemstones
* Hero Arts CL129 Anytime Messages ("thanks")
* Hero Arts CL151 Share Laughter (butterfly)
* Hero Arts CL183 Cute Letters (letter i used upside down as exclamation point)
* Hero Arts H5011 Silhouette Corner
* ribbon
* Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Permanent Marker: brown
* Therm O Web Zots Small (glue dots)
* Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Walnut Stain
* Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop dye ink: Bahama Blue
Thanks Kelly for the inspiration!
Special thanks to Hero Arts for valuing its customers enough to feature them and their cards and projects on the Hero Arts Blog. It is so nice to see this kind of recognition.
And more special thanks to each of the 5 ladies chosen to have a day on the Hero Arts Blog, for inspiring us with their work. It's been so much fun to go back through each of your cards and paper projects and to learn more about you through the question-and-answer segments on the Hero Arts Blog.
Thanks for looking!
I am just loving the new Hero Arts S5449 Fabulous Flourish background stamp! For this card, I inked it with Tea Dye Distress Ink, stamped on scrap paper, and without cleaning the stamp, I reinked it with Hero Arts AF146 Shadow Ink in Soft Pool. It gives an aged distressed look to the stamping. The sentiment is also a mix of Dried Marigold and Tea Dye Distress Inks.
Thanks for looking! :-)

Hi there! I just got the Special Edition: A Great Big stamp set and just had to ink one of them up! I thought this cute doll fit the sentiment nicely ... and she has a lovely Sakura flower on her dress! :-)
I used 1/16" pop dots to adhere the scalloped circle with the sentiment. Then, I used 1/8" pop dots to adhere the doll to the card. That way, the doll is popped up the most. I also used an opaque white pen to highlight the center of the Sakura flower and the row of dots on the doll's dress.
Materials used:
* cardstock: white, gray, burnt orange, textured putty
* Basic Grey Offbeat Light Hearted 12" x 12" cardstock
* Clearsnap/Colorbox Cat's Eye pigment ink: Roussillon (rust) and Peacock (blue)
* Derwent watercolour pencil: 64-terra cotta
* EK Success 3D-Dots: 1/16" squares
* EK Success Cutter Bee scissors
* Hero Arts LL229 Special Edition: A Great Big
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Giga punch (purple): 3" scalloped circle
* Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Mega punch (pink): 2 1/2" circle

* Plaid All Night Media Pop Dots (1/8" thick)
* Provo Craft Bitty Scrap Pad: Into the Woods (patterned yellow paper)

For this friendship card, I wanted to use a cool new set of stamps and dies that coordinate together from Simon Says Stamp. The set is called Apothecary Labels SetAL4 and it includes the Simon Says Stamp SSS06125 Apothecary Labels stamp set and S114 dies made by Memory Box for Simon Says Stamp.
I took a piece of cream cardstock and die cut it with the circular die from the set. Then I applied Tea Dye and Broken China Distress Inks using a sponge dauber. I used painters tape to mask the top and bottom sections of the stamp and inked the middle with Tsukineko Memento dye ink in Bahama Blue, and then removed the tape and inked the rest in Potters Clay, and stamped it.
The card base is made from dark chocolate brown cardstock. The background piece is plain white cardstock. I used a mixture of Broken China, Shabby Shutters, and Scattered Straw Distress Inks, applied directly to a non-stick craft sheet and then spritzed with water to create the background. Then I stamped Hero Arts S5037 DesignBlock Tree on top using Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
I adhered the sentiment circle with foam squares for dimension. Baker's twine from My Mind's Eye. Hero Arts turquoise gemstones.

If you know what these are, then you probably like to print your photographs as much as I do :)
These are the ink supply containers for the continuous ink system I use with my Canon Pro9000 Mark II. Because I buy the dye ink by the pint bottle, my major printing expense is the paper I use. I use a different bulk system for pigment printing on the Epson 3800.
Best explored in the darkroom.
Made this cheerful, fun, summer-sunshine card for my brother, who just got a promotion at his new job! Yay! Thanks for looking! :-)
For three challenges:
* Daria's (djc's) SOF12 Good Things Small Packages
* Michelle's (Meechelle's) SOF12 Secret Santa
* LeighAnn's (lovepug2's) SOF12 Wax Paper
The background is made from glossy cardstock. I took a piece of new wax paper and placed it on top of the Spellbinders Impressabilities Fleur de Lis that my Secret Santa gave me (thank you!) and then I ran it through my Cuttlebug to dry emboss the wax paper. Then I took the wax paper and sandwiched it between two pieces of glossy cardstock (shiny sides towards the wax paper) and ironed the sandwich to transfer the wax to the glossy cardstock as a resist. Next I applied Tsukineko Memento Bahama Blue dye ink directly to the glossy cardstock and then wiped off the excess with a paper towel.
Then I trimmed it to size and edged it with the same Bahama Blue ink. I added scalloped white velvet ribbon and adhered it to the card base. I stamped the "thank you" sentiment from Hero Arts CL371 Essential Messages using Ranger Archival Ink in jet black. The hummingbird is from Stampin' Up 120045 Elements of Style and is stamped with Memento Lilac Posies dye ink. It is attached with foam squares for dimension. Finally, I added Hero Arts CH127 Pink Gemstones to set off the corners.
Thanks for looking! :-)
I was inspired to create this card for LeighAnn's (lovepug2's) Sum Up Summer Challenge. Our instructions were to use a summer themed stamp and stick with colors found in a summer's sunset.
To me, summer has always been about flowers, from coneflowers to hydrangeas to dandelions. I love seeing all the flowers bloom and to see their bright vibrant colors. And especially smelling their fragrance on the breeze on a cool summer evening. That is what inspired me most when creating this card.
The background of this card is made from Ranger Gloss Paper. I used a Tsukineko Kaleidacolor dye ink pad in Pastel, that has all the colors of a summer sunset: orange, pink, purple, dusky blue, and green. I applied the ink to Penny Black 40-110 Damask Pattern using a brayer, in a diagonal direction. Then I rotated the stamp and applied more ink using the brayer.
I placed the glossy paper gloss side down onto the inked stamp. Then I rubbed the back side of the glossy paper with my hands, to be sure the pattern transferred. Then I lifted the glossy paper off the stamp and set it aside to dry.
Meanwhile, I inked three circle stamps and the "happy birthday" sentiment from Penny Black 30-103 Wishes using the same Kaleidacolor ink. I stamped them onto glossy paper. Once they were dry, I used a 1 1/2" circle punch to punch them out. I also cut a 1" strip of glossy paper. I applied Tsukineko Memento Grape Jelly dye ink directly to this strip and then wiped off the excess with a paper towel.
I used a Creative Memories corner rounder to round two corners of the card base. Then I adhered the purple strip and trimmed the excess. Finally, I attached the three circles using foam squares for dimension.
