Well there's always a story whenever we press the shutter

isn't there ?

Well the one behind this had a happy ending at least. Jonathan bought me the tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III DXD (model A056) telephoto zoom for Christmas. On bringing it downstairs on Christmas Eve to place under the tree he dropped it from halfway down the stairs whence it bounced from step to step before crash landing onto the wooden hall floor. Better than a broken leg (as I thought wholly possible from the noise )

Well I gathered my wits and tried it out for the first time yesterday in my front room before going a short walk. Unfortunately it had started raining before we even left the car -we still went a walk which in dull dank conditions yielded nothing photographically but I downloaded the few pics anyway to see if anything appeared damaged. Happily no apparent damage and to my amusement I spotted a selfie of myself and my dog Beau right in the centre of a bauble. Taken at the long end of the zoom at f/2.8 I am so far quite pleased as hadn't even been taking macro shots indoors as felt too awful. I loved that the bauble framed the room so perfectly in the center when I had actually been trying for the glittery bauble so had no idea about the selfie.luckily far enough away for me not to hate my own reflection lol...just a test shot but the first in a long while so quite cheering :)

Looking at the digital negative (raw) file for this last night closing out the folder for archiving I really liked the quicksilver running thru it. The dark frame of a bracketed pair -3.3ev I thought it may be worth a look as it was.

5x2 may be my least used aspect ratio but it really works for this one.

Raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 5 mono converted in Silver Efex Pro 3 then finished off back in PhotoLab 5.

Plaxton Primo YX60 DXD is seen in Derby looking sorry for itself. Prior to the pandemic, this was used as a mobile cafe, however since it's not been used, the youth of today have made the most of it and it now has an abandoned vehicle notice in it, meaning that the authorities may have to remove it in the next week or so for scrapping.

Highland Country Buses Alexander Dennis Enviro400 19217 (NK57 DXD) is seen here leaving Aviemore on service 31 to Cairngorm mountain. It was originally Busways 19217 in February 2008 and joined the Highland fleet in 2020.

31.03.21 - Streetlite 63185 pictured at Kingsknowe Level Crossing working a service 20 to Ratho

You could say it looks like DW Coaches all over again, but except the orange parts is painted over instead of all the blue. While they got the 2 tempos, they got this ex Stagecoach dart for some reason, maybe as an extra for school services that requires a single decker. Who knows? Or could there be signs of a service coming back? Maybe not as the driver's camera is removed. Whatever they got it for, it's a mystery. The rear however is still in Stagecoach red though, so maybe they were halfway through painting only to find out due to you-know-what, it's suspended for the time being.

The Aston Martin V8 was hanbuilt by Aston Martin from 1969-89, emerging through several generations.

Powered by a V8 engine designed by Tadek Narek, the V8 made its debut in 1969 in the DBS V8 which evolved from the DBS six cylinder model.

The DBS name was dropped in April 1972, the flagship car becoming known simply as the V8, Aston Martin V8 cars, produced from 1972 through July 1973, used a similar engine to the DBS V8, albeit with Bosch fuel injection rather than the earlier carburetors.

The Series III was introduced in 1973, with the engine switching back to normally aspirated form, and the use of Weber carburettors, ostensibly to help the car pass new stricter emissions standards in California. ese cars are distinguished by a taller hood scoop to accommodate four twin-choke (two-barrel) Weber carbs. The car produced 310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) and could reach 60 mph in 6.1 seconds with automatic transmission and 5.7 seconds with manual. ese cars are distinguished by a taller hood scoop to accommodate four twin-choke (two-barrel) Weber carbs. The car produced 310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) and could reach 60 mph in 1976. The next year, a more powerful "Stage 1" engine with new camshafts and exhaust brought it up to 305 hp

*Production ran from 1973-78, but was halted , for the whole of 1975

Stagecoach 34653 (GX54 DXD) a Dennis Dart in Pilgrims Hospices livery, is seen at Margate on route 32 to Garlinge. 4th April 2016
