Returning to Buxton, I took what I think may have been my one and only shot of a Hartle's coach, having consistently ignored their fleet of Bedford / Plaxtons over the previous years, mainly because they were just Bedford / Plaxtons !
The firm had been acquired by Neil Halliday, who was an established minicoach operator in Buxton, and the first thing he did was to add this new Leyland Tiger to the fleet. It turned out to be the only thing he did in terms of fleet additions, as no other vehicles arrived before the operation was sold to White's of Calver in 1988. The fleet had been solidly 10 metres and 45-seaters for many years, so this broke new ground in being a 12-metre, 53-seater heavyweight.
At the end of 1994, it was sold, and became a school bus with Highland Council, staying there until 2007.

W Alexander & Sons Leyland Titan PD2/Alexander Northern (lowbridge) at Abus yard on trip from Bristol Vintage Bus Group open day. A comfortable ride, with a surprising amount of space upstairs despite lowbridge layout.
