This is a durable, Dachshund leash holder made from high fire ceramics, various glazes and handmade tiles of the same material for the mosaics. The Doxie has a pewter tag that reads "Follow your Heart". All of this is attached to a wooden backing with metal hooks for hanging coats, hats or leashes. For $.75 cents per letter I can include ceramic buttons with Epoxy letters personalizing the leash holder over the mosaic bone. (Example picture is included)
As with all my creations, this is a handmade, signed, one-of-a-kind leash holder that can be copied, but not duplicated. Each piece is lovingly hand formed, mosaics pieces are individually hand-cut, meticulously arranged, and the glazes are applied with three to six coats to achieve the best color enhancement.

All that remains of this giant Saguaro Cactus is a strong durable skeleton. Such a strong support structure explains the fact that it can grow so tall and hold so much water. Water is quite dense. A Saguaro Cactus is very heavy.
These are called Saguaro ribs. A number of old Tucson restaurant diinng rooms have beamed ceilings that are covered with saguaro ribs.

I found him sometime in the early to mid 1970s. He was a small figurine on top of a cupcake at Kevin Boyd's house. I took him home that night and kept him for years. We became fast friends. Sadly, in a fit of fundamentalist religious zeal sometime in the mid to late 1980s, I threw him away. Everything related to Halloween had to go. What was I thinking? Obviously I regretted this later and spent years recollecting all the elements I could find that were part of my original collection. I started recollecting in the years prior to the internet so there were no options such as ebay. You just had to go to every antique store or garagae sale you could find just hoping they would have some old cast off durable plastic Halloween offerings. I pretty much assumed I'd never see him again, until the age of the internet. Then I began allowing myself glimmers of hope. Soon, I was finding some good collectibles books that were giving me hope as well. Finally, with some encouragement from krispy, New York Observer, halloween guy and nemo_434 and a helpful tip from riptheskull, I was able to finally reunite with Blacksuit after 22 years. So, a special thanks to all of you guys and to the ebay user who sold him to me. The one I ended up buying is not exactly the same. It's a slightly larger model that I believe used to stand on top of a car. However, the design that inspired the cupcake topper is the same. Hence, I can say that Blacksuit is home. I still can't believe it.

Marc was looking for a durable pair of training wheels – ones that would
stand up to his weight and high kms.
The DT Swiss 585 rim is perfect for such a type of wheel. At 580 grams
they’re not light but they are very stiff and build into a super durable
wheelset. Their brake track is top notch and yields really smooth braking.
We use a lot of the White Industries T11 hubs because they’re light, they
have good flange geometry, and they are extremely durable. They’re made in
the USA and use a titanium freehub body which means the cassette cogs won’t
dig into the splines.
DT Swiss bladed Aerolite spokes keep the weight in check and give the
wheels a nice ride ‘feel.’
Aluminium nipples on the front wheel cut down on a few unnecessary grams

A traditional fish weir off the coast of Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada. Fish weirs have been used by indigenous people of North America for millenia, and they are a simple, sustainable way of trapping and catching fish. The ingenious design of fish weirs is a fully passive way of catching fish that requires little input of energy and interferes minimally with the environment.
These styleish looking gates were made from just sheets of thick, reasonable quality plywood that had been routed to make the pattern. It seemed like a neat idea, I am curious how long it will look good out in the elements like that.
