Old Quebec is a very pleasant place, one of the most relaxing cities in North America. Terrasse Dufferin, a wide boardwalk at the edge of the upper town, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The views of the river are magnificent, and the massive Chateau Frontenac hotel is equally impressive.

As pleasing as it was to stare in wonderment at the majestic Niagara Falls, it was refreshing to escape the throngs of tourists and traffic for a quiet afternoon at Dufferin Islands Nature Area. There were no rare birds there, just familiar friends like Red-winged Blackbirds, Mallards and Canada Geese.

Many , many raptors to be seen in the fields of Saskatchewan. Plus they are not as photo shy as the Alberta cousins.

Dufferin County, Ontario
While common in much of South America this is a rare bird here and an addition to my Canada and Ontario lists.

Usually this time of the year it is very cold, hahaha, but right now it is like Spring out. But in the Winter Duff, as we locals call it, the water is drained from Duff due to the ice hazard of people falling through the ice!
