Dubai Water Canal, the newly opened ambitious project/attraction literally turned this part of Dubai into an island, extending Dubai Creek from one end of Arabian sea to other end. This area could look like Vencie's canal. Pano of 3 frames to give it a different "twist".

As the second pedestrian bridge, the Tolerance Bridge spans the Dubai Water Canal. It is 6 meters wide, 210 meters long, the pedestrian and cyclist walkway is 8.5 meters above the water. The arch has a height of 40 meters and a span of 205 meters. The name “Tolerance Bridge” comes from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. “Bridges connect people, cultures and hearts.
That morning I had first photographed the blue hour at this location. When daylight shone over the city lights, I packed up and started walking along the Dubai Water Canal. But when the sun appeared and the sky became more and more cloudy, the light pulled me back to where I started ...

When I prepare for a photo tour, I always look at the pictures of my travel destination. Then I try to find these places using Google Maps and imagine how the light changes there during the day and when is the best time to take a picture. In Dubai I often had to find out that this procedure doesn't work there - new skyscrapers are springing up too quickly. The construction sites, on which work is carried out day and night, are brilliantly illuminated and outshine all other city lights...

Its Good to be in the right place on the right time. Dubai Canal at Dawn just turning to Golden moment ...
On our second morning we got up early again. After a 20min drive, we reached the Tolerance bridge.
I have found out that it looks best for sunrise, because the sun rises behind the skyscrapers. We were lucky to have some clouds which were all colored. Luckily we made it there on time, as this is not easy to calculate in an environment that you are not familiar with.

Dubai is full of awesome guys like this pair; hard-working people from the subcontinent (Pakistan in this case) who seem to always be in good spirits. These two were walking their bicycles on a pedestrian bridge over the new Dubai Water Canal, their traditional dress - comfortable in these climates - showing the evidence of their hard days' work. I was shooting the interesting shapes on the bridge but they insisted on posing for me. And I'm quite taken with the result - a couple of total dudes.

I just discovered a three-year-old batch of photos from a trip around the Indian Ocean - didn't post them then, so will drop in a few at a time. I'm enjoying the trip once again.

Some things you really do only expect to see in Dubai. Like a purple curtain of water streaming out the side of an 16-lane motorway flyover that somehow manages to part, almost like magic, to let boats on the canal below pass. Why not, right?
