Seen in Newark, Nottinghamshire.
A 2006 Alexander-Dennis Enviro200 (B38F) from Marshalls of Sutton-on-Trent.
Operating route 37 to Newark.
New to Stones of Leigh with plate BUS 51T in August 2006.
Storm Doris battered the country today, felling trees, stopping trains and cutting power supplies - but Marshalls battled on through it all!
In the midst of it all, a remarkably unusual allocation cropped up - Enviro200 DS95 appeared on the 91 between Newark and Bingham! Regular viewers of my photos will be well aware the service is usually exclusively in the hands of Optare Solos - and the appearance of an Enviro on the route is something that's only happened about five times in the last year - and each time, it has been this one.
It's seen here entering Sibthorpe along Deadwong Lane, working the 1140 from Newark to Aslockton via Bingham.
7/9/16....am using this one as my wild card for scavenger18 "a tree with significance"-- it was the significance part that i found troubling- since i am a fan of all trees but none that i am bound to hug. this tree is at the lake which i do love and it was the first time i considered using a mirror which had been in the back of my car, purchased at a YS ~grin~.
6/9/15......keeping with the "looking up" idea, i am bringing this one back around to the front of the photostream, for the Digging in the Archives Tuesday group pool.

and i didn't end keeping a mirror in my car after all--
maybe i'll go find it and put it back in ~grin~
btb, i loved the daily shoot-- it caused to to go out and find or compose shots

i think i'll start carrying a mirror around in my car all the time >ggg<........... is it still considered "natural" if you bring it along???
our daily topic: tree
and again for mirror

One from this evening - DS95 stands at Eaton Lane End on the dead run from Retford back home, having worked the last journey of the day from Newark. DS95's claim to fame is being the first ever production Enviro200, and is a lovely vehicle to drive.
In the background, 82226 leads 91104 along the East Coast Main Line on 1Y47, the 1725 Newcastle to London King's Cross.
The 37 follows the route of the Great North Road and East Coast Main Line for quite some way: it runs alongside the route at South Muskham, and reappears when coming off the A1 heading north at Carlton-on-Trent. After that, the Great North Road crosses it at Poplar Farm, just north of Sutton-on-Trent, and the line runs virtually parallel to the road all the way to Scarthingmoor/Stone Road End, only leaving view when it goes 'behind' Weston village. There's then a fairly long gap until it runs parallel to the A638, from Gamston to Eaton. After that, it leaves the route of the bus.
I've honestly never seen as much rain in such a short space of time as I did today, with a heavy downpour lasting for the best part of three hours! It stopped as suddenly as it began though, and left a lovely spring evening, as seen here!
A change to the way some vehicles and services are diagrammed has seen the emergence of a rather more varied early 22 from Tuxford to Newark.
Previously the home of wall to wall Optare Solos (on a Tuesday to Friday - Monday was still an anything day!), the service now sees a mix of Enviro200's, Versas, Solos, and even an Olympian on a Monday.
It's all down to what service the vehicle is doing afterwards - on this day, DS95 worked on to the 0755 37 from Newark to Retford, after the 0635 22 from Tuxford to Newark - on which it is seen at The Sun Inn before departure.
Excuse my position please - it was the first time I'd driven it in a while and I didn't want to get it overly close to the kerb... unfortunately, this meant I managed to keep it overly far away from it instead!
An interesting vehicle in the Marshall's fleet is this Enviro200, which has the dubious honour of being the first production Mk II Enviro 200 and the only 06 plate one as well!!
New to Jim Stones in 2006, it joined the Marshall's fleet in 2014.
DS95 is seen crossing the railway line at Newark Castle with a 39 from Normanton-on-Trent, Carlton-on-Trent and North Muskham.

I'm beginning to go further afield at Centrebus, with the amount of routes I know now standing at 21 - and the latest one I've learned is the Rutland Flyer RF2, which runs every two hours (increasing to hourly in the afternoon) between Melton Mowbray and Oakham via Cottesmore.
It's a very quirky route, performing two turning manoeuvres at RAF Cottesmore and Greetham - and a further branch which takes you on a circular trip of the village of Exton.
The usual vehicles seem to be either Solos or the short Enviro200's - but larger vehicles do make appearances too, with a Tempo providing the extra bus needed after 4pm on this particular day.
My own bus was Enviro200 Dart 548, which started off life as JB51BUS at Jim Stones in Leigh - before moving on to Paul S Winson, where it became WW07PSW. These days it bears the more normal registration MH07HTC! It's seen here in the village of Cottesmore, awaiting time on the 1705 from Melton Mowbray to Oakham.
As an aside, this now brings the total number of former Jim Stones buses I've driven up to two, with Marshalls DS95 being the other!
And now it's time for a game of spot the difference!
The weather of course being the biggest disappointment - er, difference! Yes, for the second time in a week, I had a bigger vehicle than normal on the 91 - although this time, it was the more commonly seen spare DS95.
Photographed in the village of Screveton whilst working the 0940 from Newark to Bingham/Aslockton, when viewed next to the photograph linked above of the Stagecoach Enviro200 sitting in the same place, it provides a nice contrast! The 54 is of course a memory now, having been replaced by the council's own 354 during August 2016.
The challenge now is to photograph a Notts County Council Enviro here to complete the set... Somehow, I don't think I'll achieve it - although the enormously rare occurrence has happened once or twice before, so never say never I guess!
Whilst in Sutton on Trent, the 37 heading the opposite way was due, so I thought I'd get that one too - DS95 was the chariot of choice, and it's seen here coming off the High Street and on to Main Street, with the tower of All Saints Church watching over it.
A little while later, this was actually replaced by Solo SR OP82, continuing its escapee day!
During the course of the following week, Stagecoach East Midlands also kindly took on our diagram on the Newark Town Shuttle, freeing up an additional single decker vehicle to act as a spare.
And that spare was needed on a few occasions - on Wednesday, I had a few issues with OP83, which saw it needing to be returned to the depot for the engineers to work their magic... and I managed to work out a way to get it back to the depot without dropping a single bit of mileage, or taking any of the engineering team away from what they were already doing!
As it wasn't a show stopping fault, I arranged to swap with a 39/77 vehicle in Newark Bus Station, which would then proceed to Sutton on Trent as usual, and swap to another vehicle there, with the faulty vehicle returning to the depot at that point. So, as a result of that, I ended up with my favourite DS95 - not so much a stranger to the 91, but a definite stranger to the 1655 X22 from Grantham!
Seen here at The Wharf, whilst waiting for the departure time of 1745 to come around, the Enviro200 definitely made a pleasant change from the usual Optare Solo!
Sat behind on Stop 4 is 36450, working the 1715 circuit on the Newark Town Shuttle.
Acquired by Marshall's in 2013 is DS95, an Alexander Dennis Enviro 200. It was new in 2006 to Jim Stones, Leigh where it was registered BUS 51T from new. It was photographed in October leaving Retford on Service 37 to Newark.
I managed to become the first person at Marshalls to take an Enviro200 on the revised 91 route on the 19th October, after suffering door issues with a Solo, and there not being any other Solos spare!
It's the first time I'd ever taken anything other than a Solo on the route, and the variation was certainly a welcome change.
DS95 is seen here at Orston Church, waiting time before heading out on the 1322 to Bingham & Newark.
Speaking of Enviro200's, and firsts, here's the first ever Enviro200!
Marshalls DS95 is seen here having just left the bus station at the start of its journey towards Newark at 1205.
That livery just suits anything - marvellous!
Rare working Friday made a re-appearance today!
Owing to my little chariot OP103 disgracing itself at the depot prior to the start of my shift, I was instead given my favourite of the Enviros, DS95! And a fantastic performance it gave too - a pleasure to drive, and great to have something a little different.
My route today was the Wednesday and Friday only 857 from Newark to Bottesford/Shelton - as mentioned before, usually the preserve of Solos - and the journey photographed here is the 1015 from Newark to Bottesford.
I've used up most of the photo locations on the route now, but here's one I was saving for something a bit special - this is Elton & Orston railway station, which as the name suggests lies between the two villages, has the dubious honour of being the least used railway station in Nottinghamshire. Just 296 entries and exits were recorded in 2015/16 - though this was a 236% rise on 2014/15, when just 88 entries and exits were recorded.
This can largely be put down to two main causes: Firstly, only two trains a day call at the station - one from Grantham to Nottingham at 0625, and one from Nottingham to Skegness at 1710. The second cause is more me having a guess - but the distance from the station to the villages (about a mile in either direction), and the low population in both villages must contribute to the lack of use.
Acquired by Marshall's in 2013 is DS95, an Alexander Dennis Enviro 200. It was new in 2006 to Jim Stones, Leigh where it was registered BUS 51T from new. It was photographed in October leaving Retford on Service 37 to Newark, at which time it was still to receive fleet names etc.
One new one and two from the archives today!
One from yesterday - here's DS95 seen on the Great North Road near Sutton on Trent, working the 1505 37 from Newark to Retford.
Who's going faster - the jogger or the bus? I'll let you decide!
Marshalls Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 DS95.ME06ABX in Nottingham on the 14th May 2014. (New to Jim Stones BUS51T 2006)
Marshalls of Sutton-on-Trent recently acquired this Enviro200, ME06ABX (DS95 in Marshalls Fleet). The vehicle has come to Marshalls from Jim Stones of Leigh, and was registered BUS51T there.
It also has the claim to fame of being the first Enviro200 ever, entering service in August 2006.
Delivered to Marshalls of Sutton on Trent last week and managed one day in service before a breakdown! Seen on the lift in Marshall's workshop.
