Daily Shoot - Franz Kafka said "Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old." Make a photo of something beautiful today.

I used today's Daily Shoot challenge as an excuse to buy myself a bouquet of flowers :-). These gerbera daisies are gorgeous!

Chocolate is always beautiful - especially dark chocolate, and it is supposed to be good for us - what do you think?

Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:

Closeup of a sliced geode.

These figurines date back to a thank you farewell as I ended a time in my life of teaching preschool (1987). Children are beautiful. They are so innocent, refreshing, and see the world with eyes of wonder. May we keep that spirit as we age.

I wouldn't normally call this "beautiful", but seeing salt on the sidewalk before our latest snowstorm hits struck me as beautiful this morning.

Tried to convince my wife to be the subject for today's "something beautiful" shot but she's not biting so far.

Living in a dry climate, where 300 plus days are sunny, seeing running water (here from the snow melting on the roof) is more that a beautiful thing- it is life changing in a region of prolonged drought.

My wife calls her "beautiful" all the time

The 86th @dailyshoot assignment was about beauty. There hasn't been much snow within the city in Basel this winter, so the quiet snowfall tonight and the way it covered everything in white made for an unexpectly beautiful evening.

Still way too cold outside, so I'm shooting things in and around my house. Here is a 1:24 scale white Dodge Viper a friend gave to me many years ago.

This is lit with 1 AlienBees AB800 with a medium softbox overhead. f/20, 1/200 at 200mm (non macro).

Not quite as sharp as I was hoping for. One day I'll have a nice macro lens!

The theme is beautiful. What did you expect to see here?

A woman skilfully twirls an illuminated Hoola Hoop in the Galactic Fantastic room at The Synergy Project.

Opening of the First Duino Elegy by Rainer Maria Rilke, translated by Mark Doty. I saw little real-world beauty today, but this qualifies, and I did photograph it off the screen.

We usually refer to this plant as our Thanksgiving Cactus because that's when it blooms. This year it is treating us to a second round of its beautiful flowers. I'm thrilled because I wanted to try an HDR photo last time it bloomed but didn't get it done. So when I saw today's topic I knew this was the beauty I wanted to capture. I followed the advice from an online article on how to take the photo and step by step directions for working in Photoshop from an article in Popular Photography. I am pleased with my first attempt.

Aren't they "beautiful?"

My daughter is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word "beauty," and she may have similar ideas.

Today's Daily Shoot inspired me to look around me again, to find beauty on a grey day.

It is a Finnish tradition to put pink heather in our balcony and window boxes for the winter, as it is about the only flowering shrub to survive the arctic cold. This winter has been especially hard, but our tough heather has still retained most of its colour, even after fierce winds and blizzards.

A good pair of jeans can certainly be a thing of beauty. I've had this pair for a few years now, and they are starting to show their age.

This is the first daffodil of spring around our house. I have planted quite a few bulbs.

As a child, I distinctly remember the first daffodil of spring every year. It was a mark of spring arriving. My dad planted several thousand(!!) bulbs of various varieties in the woods behind our house. After a few decades of maturity, the entire hillside in those woods are covered with flowers.

Spring arrives a bit earlier in California than Columbia, MO. We'll get a few flowers through February, but nothing like the clusters and clumps of Missouri.

this brooch belonged to my mother-in-law. it's not an expensive piece of jewelry but i think it is so beautiful. i'm partial to the darker jewel tones so maybe that it why it appeals to me so much.

i'm really amazed at the focus you can get in the camera live view setting. you can choose your focal point and blow it up x10 to get it as sharp as possible. i have been using the manual focus only. i'm not so sure it works in auto focus.

Well... I am reading a lot about various climate issues across North America and thinking back on how challenged we were here in SW BC last year. Not now, though. These flowers will be part of the beauty of our area for some time and will be replaced by even more beauty as the year goes on ... and, for that, I am ever so greatful.
