Waterlillies...so much variety in colors, shapes, and textures.
I can never get enough of waterlillies, especially close up views. This purple and yellow one was especially vibrant this morning (especially as it was surrounded by white ones).

Ain't too many things more beautiful than food.
It was a domestic sort of day. Lots of cleaning, way too much laundry, and some cooking. Not a lot of time for photography, unfortunately.

Although I like this photo it's the result of an epic failure. I decided when I woke up that I wanted to make french toast for late breakfast, then I read today's dailyshoot so I decided not to "over-think it", set up a tripod of me making breakfast on a time lapse and piece together the results. The results were kinda cool, the piecing together did not go well... not well at all... Haha! I'll post the failure for lulz. Also love the way I took a photo of myself when asked to take a beautiful photo... big head much? D:

Shot for the dailyshoot.com assignment #ds574 "Make a beautiful picture today. Don't overthink it". This is during an 'exploratory lesson' at Square Pegs Foundation, a riding school and therapy ranch in Half Moon Bay. Watching Kem get into an English saddle for the first time was a beautiful thing to this mama, and the hillside trail was really rather idyllic. I didn't over-think it, though. Pretty much a point-and-shoot with the camera on manual, and hope for the best in the sahdows.

How's THIS for a splash of sunshine on a gray day! I spent some time this afternoon at a local farm, looking for flowers for my own garden and spotted one of the owners in her foul weather gear. She seemed to radiate sunshine with her warm smile and inner peace. She was happy to oblige when I asked her if I could take her photo!

We had nice weather this afternoon so we headed out to Manassas where the battle of bull run took place. There at 1 with full sun directly overhead. Very hard light.

I've always loved Keats poetry. Knowing his life was to be short he agonised about the things we take so much for granted. I wanted to capture the stages of dandelion development but realise I've missed the first stage when the head is full. No chance of remedying that today as it's rainy and windy and the heads will probably have been blown away. I aim to revisit the location and edit this pic. The deterioration stage is just as beautiful as when in its prime. Even a weed has its place in Nature

We're paying for yesterday's nice weather today. We awoke to a bit of south wind, which blows right at the front of our cabin, and brings the rain. Before it rained too much, I took a little walk and snapped a picture of this flower (an azalea, I think) for my 365 and today's Daily Shoot:
