Photograph of my wife at 40 weeks (due date is tomorrow) for @dailyshoot #ds561 - llustrate attraction in a photograph today.

Alternate title: Laws of Attraction.

First comes love... then comes marriage... then comes _______ in a baby carriage. :)

yesterday, on a 2 day break from all things flicker, i went down to the roger williams park in providence. it's a neat 430 or so acre park with ponds and picnic tables and geese and a carousel. took a bunch of pictures which i promised myself i would not put up til friday; *but* the little boy getting his face painted and an ice cream truck on the way home changed my mind a little, since i promised the people who were the subjects that i'd post them.

when this came up on my computer's screen i was blown away. i had the little P&S on a bright sun setting but was "indoors" which could account for part of the 'painterly' effect. the other part is that they *are* called painted ponies, after all. i must admit i did do a little touch-up of the scratches and dings, so it's not totally SOOC but pretty much so.

reading a little about the carousel, it is the 9th largest non-restored one in the US, is victorian style but was built in 1989, and the rides are reasonably priced. it doesn't have the brass ring option of the one on MV.

ODC blast from the past

[broadly interpreting both challenges. we often have a childlike attraction to these colorful rides of a gentler time, even given the advent of theme parks and their 'wild' rides. there is something about going round and round, up and down that is timeless :):)]

think this will become one of my favorites. now back to my hiatus from flicker til friday ~grin~

I stuffed up the focus on this photo but I like it so much I'm going to pretend I meant it. There is a floating outdoor indoor football/soccer attraction on darling harbour, people stood by and watched the game. Lined up a few people's head with the floodlight, this girl and her bike took the cake. Also nabbed some water and reflection. Not much postprod which is different for me, like it plain. Damn I wish I didn't stuff up the focus. Just view the photo small on flickr, stay out of the lightbox ;)

Gravitation - THE ULTIMATE ATTRACTION!

We had lots of time on Stoney Man waiting for the sun set and this is the sort of thing that results. It is quirky and I like it.

After selling 15 million iPads in less than nine months, it was plainly clear that Apple's iPad was a hit, and destined to become another revenue source for the company.

But moments after announcing the 15 million sales figure, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the iPad2, a slimmer, faster, 9x graphics-power enhanced update. Not only that, it came with those fancy rare-earth magnets built into the frame to let the stylin' Smart Cover click-on and click-off like yet-another piece of Apple magic. Wonderful! And a great money magnet for the company!

As fortune (pun) would have it, a few coins sitting on my desk came into contact with the iPad2 the other evening, suddenly leaping a centimetre or so and seating themselves in alignment with the magnet-embedded edge. Clearly this is yet another example of how the iPad2 can act as a Money Magnet!

I went back to the pond behind us today with a longer lens. This has to be the same family I shot yesterday, but there's one more gosling! I love the way the goslings stick to their parents like magnets!

I don't know how they cling to walls, so I am assuming that there is some sort of attraction between their feet and the surface.

Street Cat Stare

This adorable kitten was hiding under my car this afternoon. It was not as scared of me as the others, and upon seeing I wasn't approaching in a threatening way, sat down and stared at me.
