Daily Shoot - Work with scale today and make a photograph that features a subject either larger or smaller than expected.

While I do understand the nature of the challenge is to trick the eye in terms of scale, when I came across this unusual 'natural' scale I couldn't resist posting it! Believe it or not we didn't have an ice storm this weekend. What we did have was wind, and lots of it, gusting in the 60-100 km/hr range! That whipped the waves in the bay into a frenzy! Everything in Millennium Park, (where my parents' memorial benches are), was sprayed with water that froze in layer upon layer. Signs, posts, benches, bushes, plants are today surreal ice sculptures. I can't remember when I last saw ice buildup on this scale. My 365 pic for today shows a view of another section of the park.

D&S train 462 descends the grade to Hermosa. I really liked this particular shot because it very much looks like it could have been shot back on the engines original territory on the White Pass & Yukon Route. 9-4-21

Spider-man recounts his latest woes as he sits on Pam's shoulders. He is feeling depressed as his super-hero life is intruding far too much into his personal life, and he is unable to maintain the appropriate boundaries. This is affecting his spider powers and getting him licked by the super villains, an additional blow to his spider ego.

As he is telling her his latest worries, Spider-Man absently strokes Pam's earlobe, giving her the tickles. To avoid hurting his feelings, Pam suppresses her laughter ... to the extent of crossing her eyes ...

I added a little shadow for the pig, otherwise it looked too much like "flying around"

Today was such a fail. This was the 6th photo I tried to take, literally ran out of time as I watched the time tick past midnight (self-imposed timeline). I tried 1) Little lolly characters in front of the highway. Problem: Rain and dumb idea. 2) Little lolly characters in leaves. Problem: Rain and dumb idea. 3) Little lolly characters driving car. Problem: Too dark, dumb idea. 4) Little lolly characters in microwave, one pressing start. Problem: Couldn't find an angle with all characters legible. 5) Other little characters on computer game cases. Problem: That's not even an idea. 6) Small whale in fish bowl. Problem: Felt rushed, kinda bland. Went with the last idea, obviously. Made the blue aqua as I usually do because it looks cooler. Ummmm, lets move on.

...And so she became for ever Takannaaluk, ” the Big there below “. Deprived of the fingers, she was henceforth incapable to do hair thus, getting tangled. Every time knots formed, marine mammals remained captive as in fishnets there. When it occurred, Inuit got hungry because no more game could be captured. The shaman then had to come down at the bottom of the sea to untangle Takannaaluk’s hair and release marine mammals. Inuit could hunt then again the game. ends "The Inuit Myth of the living beings’ origin" www.inuitartzone.com/blog/2008/05/28/uinigumasuittuq-the-... in my new favorite blog Inuit Art Zone

A quick dip into the kids' toy boxes, and I had something to mess around with. This kind of reminds me of the old Sinbad movies of the 50s (60s?) where the "giant" stop-motion animated monsters would come over the rise and try to crush Sinbad and his intrepid crew.

Here we have Nate's remote controlled tarantula trying to get past Kemma's stallion to the tasty little foal morsel. But the stallion is having nothing to do with that advance. Take THAT, hairy beast!

This little tree, unfamiliar to me, is a type found everywhere around here in Eastern Ontario. People here typically call it red cedar, though it's not a cedar. After some searching, I found it's a Juniper, in fact, Juniperus virginiana var. virginiana. It competes with the grass, but since the snow is covering the grass, it stands out at this time of year.

Put a ketchup bottle for scale ;-)

Decided to treat myself to some root beer today. I don't often drink soda, especially after I gave up caffeine over a year ago; but every once in a while I get a four pack of bottled root beer. Today was one of those days (I even drank two today...normally I keep it to one).
