Power plugs are ubiquitous. Can you make a creative photo of such a common thing? Try it today!
Get out there, take a photograph, upload it, and tweet a link to @dailyshoot with the hashtag: #ds448
In hindsight, this was a pretty stupid idea. Simple, but a bit over ambitious. And as it's Sunday, I thought I'd give sliders Sunday a go. Tons of sharpening, generous amounts of saturation, heavy cropping and curve adjustments to make my magnolia wall look purple.
HSS!!

They ran from the medical office laughing like school kids. Lori could not believe that his whacky gizmo and plan had worked, but in his briecase was a check made out for $10,00 to CHB Energy Enterprises, a non existent compant with headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee (which just happened to be the home town of Belinda Montgomery, the office manager at Anderson Medical).
Conrad was impressed with Lori's cool, calm and utterly believable cameo as someone in the waiting toom who could ioffer an anecdaote of support for the services of CHB Energy Enterprises.
"So what the hell was that thing you plugged into their power out in the back of the office?" asked Lori.
Conrad smiled. "I'd call it a RC EMP"
"Okay, McGyver, I'll need a little bit more."
"Oh that you shall."
"No, please, I am not trying to steal amny trade secrets. But you did rig something to cause their panic."
"Okay sweetheart, you earned a little insidep dope. That's a Radio Controlled Electronic Magnetic Pulse, something I learned from an Army buddy who had done some undercover ops with some Mossad agents. We did not want to make it look like power outage; I just was able to give a remote signal to send a scramble burst unti their office that would make things like PCs and computers go a littl fritzy."
Lori did not full understand the details, but she got the concept. "Which is why your companies electrical integrity equipment and services would be attractive."
"Indeeed, you see how easy they made a down payment."
"And they will be surprised in three weks when the installer does not show up?"
"righ, darling. The delivery of a few boxes next week will buy us some time."
"Damn, you are good, Conrad.... no we are. Let's go get a steak and some good scotch; I want tp party it up."
"We are on our way, let's go to Foley's Steakhouse. And then we go back to your place and play a little prowler at window."
"You are too much," beamed Lori. And she smiled to herself, knowing how to rig the final coup d'état.

A very hurried picture of (after my camera and tripod) my most used photographic tool - an ancient desk lamp with a fabulous stiff bendy stem that stays where you put it! Must admit I wasn't too fussed about the outcome of this shot - just glad the camera was working (see below). Two images blended together (lamp on and off) and background colour changed.
There very nearly wasn't a @dailyshoot entry from me today.

A power point (plug) love story.
I've had this power-point tester for about 20 years. If everything's OK, the red and green neons light up.
Here I've hit the red and orange ones with red lasers, and lit the whole thing from bottom-left with a LED torch. The ambient light is halogen. Add in some funky processing for good measure. (I really need a green laser, too.)
Turn your head sideways, and it sort of looks like some kind of evil monkey!

Ok, so this is a real stretch for this challenge. This is the sunrise from our balcony in Los Cabos, Mexico. Since all energy starts with the Sun, I figured I could make a loose connection to a power plug ;-)
Day one of our vacation, (travel days don't count), started with breakfast on the balcony at dawn and whale-watching. I have decided to unplug while we're here. I brought my little netbook, which choked just trying to download the large RAW files from my camera. Processing them with this thing will take too much time away from relaxing! After all I'm on vacation and I have way more pressing things to do :-). I'll take my shots and then upload them and catch up with all of you when I get back. See you in a week...

A genuine Sun Microsystems(TM) power cable, part number 180-1097-01 Rev B. I shot one of these for #ds317 as well, www.flickr.com/photos/jlodder/5038013922; I think I like this one better.
Camera below subject, aimed up and to the right. Flash camera right, fired into sheet of paper behind and above subject and angled downward, 1/8, 105mm. White balance, Levels, and Curves adjusted in post-processing.

Assignment: Take a creative photo of a power plug.
I couldn't really find any way to get creative with this one. Most power plugs are located in pretty ordinary-looking places, so juxtaposing them with something more interesting was pretty much out of the question. Instead, I just took a picture of the coolest power plug I could find.
The power adapter for my old PowerBook G4, which died about a month ago. It was only 6 years old when its disk died on me. I loved it as it had a lovely big 17" screen which was ideal for watching TV and playing games (mostly hidden object games).
I have now inherited my husband's old MacBook Pro, and he has moved on to a Mac Mini. Well, ... someone in the household has to inherit the old stuff that my husband and son keep buying!
Taken with iPhone 3GS.

PS: FIN!!! THE END!!! I made it!!! I finally got to the end of the 365!!!
These past months have been very hard to keep up on the assignments, and while I was about to give up after a two week of being unable to take any photos, I'm glad I didn't.
I want to thank all the Flicker members that have been cheering me up for this past year, and encourage them to continue to the end. It's a great personal achievement!
Great thanks go to Yolanda for bearing with me for the past year. THANKS!

Whether you're on the road and away from a wall socket, at a conference session in mid-afternoon after a busy morning of back-channel, or sitting down to dinner with friends after a long day, it pays to be prepared for the ultimate tech emergency -- a discharged battery on an electronic device.
This would be (if counting is correct) the fifth external battery solution I've called upon to keep such necessary things as -- oh, I don't know -- iPhones running after their battery has run down over the course of the day. The ZAGG Sparq 2.0 is hands down the best I've encountered so far. Not only does it accept 2 standard USB plugs (so you can use your devices' normal charging cables -- no need for proprietary charging cables) to charge 2 devices simultaneously, but it includes an iPad optimized outlet, which is capable of charging the iPad back to at least 60% of it's full capacity. (If you've used an iPad, you know the battery can be good for 10 hours of constant use, so the Zagg Sparq is good.) Alternatively, it will charge an iPhone "up to 4 times" on one Sparq charge. (That may be truer for the previous iPhones more so than the better-batteried iPhone4. I tend to get 2-3 good solid charges with the ZAGG Sparq 2.0 for my iPhone4.)
Also, not only does the Sparq provide a charge while you're out and about, but it also serves as a portable charging adapter. While it is charging in the wall socket overnight, you can also plug your two devices into it so that they can charge, too. Quite the bonus.
So if you are looking to keep yourself charged and connected over a full day, or if you sometimes undertake such a responsibility to support others in their tech emergencies (Quick! To the Tech Cave!), then you may find the ZAGG Sparq 2.0 a useful item for your utility device-carrying-accoutrement.

By the way, I know the ZAGG Sparq 2.0 is a good plug. But was that a good plug?

My entry for DailyShoot 448, "Power plugs are ubiquitous. Can you make a creative photo of such a common thing? Try it today!" Honestly, after taking this picture, I laughed. And then I felt a little scared for my soul. It's kind of creepy, looking at it. But I'm actually pretty pleased with it -- I wasn't expecting to get an even halfway decent picture out of this prompt.

I was a little unsure of whether the theme meant taking a photo of any common thing or specifically a power plug, but since most people seemed to interpret it as the latter, I went with it as well.

Didn't want to take a normal power plug/point so had to think of something borderline incorrect according to what the assignment asked for... think I did well. Middle "15 AMPS" in focus, wide open shot and happy with the DOF, also like the dirt and orange/purple noise introduced after fiddling with the colour, opted not to get rid of that. I'm more than happy with this photo.

Here is my power plug - I REALLY want you to ride the Songo River Queen II located on Long Lake in Naples, Maine. This stern paddle wheel boat was built by my stepfather and christened on Memorial Day weekend 1982 (the original Songo River Queen was built in the 1960s but was burned to the water level Columbus Day weekend of 1981). This is a great way to spend an hour or two seeing the sights of the Sebago Lakes Region and riding through the hand operated swing bridge and hand operated Songo River locks. Your voyage begins on Long Lake, then into Brandy Pond and then takes a winding trip on the Songo River through the locks and then return. It is a great ride on a real stern paddle wheel boat.
That is the end of my power plug.

I gotta admit i found this really hard, trying to find something that would be of interest and still show off what it is. After a whole bunch of photos I thought this was a nice shot. In case your wondering what it exactly it is, it's a fuse panel inside the house which powers my life ;)
