shot on iPhone 4. The stairs at Wilston train station this morning with rain drops on the rail. I shot this for Daily Shoot assignment (Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph #ds430) and couldn't find a photo today that beat this for my 365.

Well, I took the plunge and bought everything I thought I needed to be able to go back to shooting in raw. The version of Elements I had would not process Raw from my new camera and neither would the iphoto. The newest version of iphoto would not load onto my existing operating system, so I went and bought Snow Leopard, Elements 9, and the newest iphoto, version 11. To start with, Snow Leopard loaded with no issues. That was good. Elements 9 loaded with no apparent issues, that was also good. I downloaded the latest iphoto and even that seemed good. Then I tried to process a photo. One problem after another then proceeded to slowly unravel and lead me to realize that I was better off before I spent all the money and the countless hours applying all these upgrades. I still can't shoot raw. Elements 9 doesn't, for some damn reason, recognize the photos in my iphoto program and tells me its empty...iphoto for some reason won't export to Elements... I can drag jpegs into elements but I could do that before. I have spent a good portion of the day reading tutorials, uninstalling and reinstalling, reading countless help pages and I am so darn unimpressed I'd like to throw the whole works out the window...but that would just be silly. Wouldn't it?? So I will go back to reading, perhaps reinstalling and perhaps wishing I could throw the works through a window... but all I really want to do...is shoot in raw. %$#@^%&$^%^^!@!@!!!

.....and how was your day?

As an update, only 2 hours later...I finally got it to work! I'm so darn relieved!! I can finally shoot in raw again!!

Yep. Still January.

I did come out of hibernation long enough to take a thirty minute walk in a local Conservation Area until I ran out of "available gloom". (Thanks for that phrase, john.king!)

4 - 9 inches of snow expected today. Yikes.

PS: Long day. I almost skipped today's assignment. I've been unmotivated since the begining of the year...I need to sort things out and start taking some important decisions. Again. :D

ok, this IS a little bit of a stretch but geocaching folk like patty, the birthday girl, follow paths/trails and clues to find a buried treasure (cache), using a compass, GPS, and lots of maps. so this is dedicated to patty and all the other folk who love this sport ..... (P, did you notice that his compass points to the NE and if you follow in that direction you can see a treasure tin?? :):)

btb, (added a bit later).......crow and friends are directly responsible for this. there was a bit of a competition/wager/discussion going on about doing a week-long meta-theme with action figures, following the DS "assignment". i promise, after a week, i will desist and take "normal" pictures again

Toy-in-the-frame Thursday

The morning sun on my house. I love the shadows especially from the verandah decorative whatsits. There is a curvy garden path, leading to the front door, but it is mostly in shadow.

Built in 1908, this is a South Australian "Federation Symmetrical Cottage", although real estate agents like to talk it up to a "Villa". Renovated by the previous owners, we have been calling this home since January 1995. It has modestly high ceilings (11 feet), which has been maintained throughout the living room extension at the back.

I'm seeing them both all the time. That's AZ 87 heading into Strawberry in my rear view and the hill down to Pine in the front.

Being a hypocrite, I'd suggest not trying this technique while driving.

I've photographed these viaducts before and I've done street lights converging on a vanishing point before, but this one sort of combines the two.

White balance set in post-processing, other changes to highlight the structure of the support beams.

East Austin has a lot of these alleys running between blocks. Rather than have the utilities run down the main streets, they mostly run down these alleys. It keeps the streets free of overhead power lines, which is really nice.

For the first time a photo I have taken can be submitted to @dailyshoot too: "Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph."

Not enough time after a long day at work to take the shot I wanted.

Today's based on the dailyshoot.com theme again, which is "Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph" ... I obviously didn't choose 'road' or 'path' ... here's a trail of riches.

I only found this path after living in the neighbor hood for 8 months. It is nicer then following the road and is quite a bit quicker. The dog loves it also because it means she can run off the lead for a short period when we are between parks.

This is for @dailyshoot s assignment #ds430 Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph. I think i achieved this, i think the path makes you wonder where its going.

P.S again sorry for the spam of 4 shots today, i wasn't able to get any shots during the week, makes life hard when your workplace does not allow cameras onsite (not even in your car)

Today's Daily Shoot subject was

Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph.

I had some ideas for non-traditional "paths", but I couldn't get them to work out for me (not yet, anyway ;-) ). Then I went out in search of real paths. I found a bunch, but without an interesting subject on or about them, they were little more than dirt.

Well, at least I didn't come home totally empty handed. ;-)

A few km from work on a beautiful day.

For Daily Shoot 430:

Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph.

This is a road off the route I usually take to work. I've traveled it a few times to find things to photograph. This stretch struck me a a neat view, so I pulled over and shot a few. I put an antique look on it, as it seemed like a good way to make it a bit unique, as it was such a dull, grey day.
