Make a photograph with a soft look today.

To me pink=soft and marshmallows need no introduction!

I declare no white marshmallows were consumed DURING the making of this shot!

Man I am struggling lately with my creativity. When I first saw this assignment, I thought great we got an easy one and I needed that. Well it wasn't. I got this idea from another contributor on today's Assignment - Just Deb... . I saw Big Bird and then the eye and thought I would do my Son's Eye. He was a trooper. He let me take all these

shots and not even one comment of the discomfort of the flash going off. Love Him.

Also I did do yesterday theme only I put the wrong hashtag when submitting. Even though I resubmitted with the correct hashtag #ds428 it didn't show up in the right assignment page.

Lastly, Thanks to my son for putting up with Dad's craziness. And Thank you Just Deb for helping me with my struggles and not even knowing you helped :)

Enjoy and remember to comment and critique.

While I consider myself primarily a coffee lover, I have been catching up on my culture and learning to appreciate tea. My girlfriend has introduced me to brewing loose leaf tea (current flavors are Black Currant and Blueberry). And I fondly remember the 2008 trip to a tea room in Shanghai led by Jeff Utecht.

Last night, I got together with friend in Payson for a delayed New Years Eve Holiday party (we were snowed in New Years, and then I was gone goofing off in Hawaii). We had set up a Secret Santa gift exchange (I learned from my Oklahoma friend Melba that from where she is from, they call it "Dirty Santa").

I ended up with this bamboo tea set, with various spoons, whisks, and some item I already forgot the use for.

While I am not yet raising my pinky, right now I am enjoying a fresh cup of Black Currant tea.

Softened the image with the Orton effect, using a GIMP script found in this package. Got the idea from this image from Samyra Serin.

Did some pp with my trusty selfmade tonemappig software here...

The knee of my comfy pair of worn-out pants.

To enhance the softness, I held my 50mm f/1.8 reversed in front of the camera. I also added a graduated filter over the top-left in Lightroom.

I'll admit that I forgot everything but the 'soft' when I took this. It pretty much sums up my mood, though. Is January over yet?

The imitation inlaid lacquer cover of my wife's address book. The assignment doesn't specify the soft (like soft light); I went with the soft focus trick of smearing a filter with dish washing liquid. Now the filter smells like Palmolive(TM). Bleah.

Direct flash, camera left, 1/16 power. Various changes in post processing to darken the overall image and then bring out highlights.

This is my wife, Christine. She was very patient working with me as I tried to get the shot that I saw in my mind's eye (portrait photographer I am not ;-) ). Thanks for helping with today's picture, honey!

Processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Strobist: Canon 430EX, 1/8th power, outside the window. I taped a white sheet over the window to act as a big diffuser. It was dark out when I took this, so no ambient contribution. Flash triggered with a Cactus remote.

ok, so winter makes one think of creature comforts and feet love to be in soft fuzzy socks :):) these are the toes, the rest of the sock is equally soft but dark..... definitely SOOC...

guess i was focusing more on the "soft" than the "soft look" ..>sigh<.. maybe i will nail it next time the prompt comes around

My photo of the day is - in many ways - the antithesis of the DailyShoot prompt.

I was going for something soft. Something comforting. Something you could cozy up with.

I went with a cup of coffee.

Not exactly a portrait of softness, but it does offer a measure of comfort. It is something I'd cozy up with. And, in my pursuit of the daily prompt, this portrait of liquid deliciousness presents a muted palette that speaks some aspect of softness to me.

So, there you go. Coffee = softness.

The Daily Shoot #ds428 - Make a photograph with a soft look today.

I realized taking shots and doing some post processing that I don't particuarly care for "soft" photos.

I think this hits the assignment OK, but I struggled with this one today.

My solar-powered Clyde left the blanket on the couch to move to the patch of sunshine on the ottoman. Everything is soft about this shot - background, colour palette, focus and contented, almost sleeping kitty.

See my 365 pic for today for my alternate shot. It was a really tough choice as the two photos are so different.

DailyShoot: Make a photograph with a soft look today.

You would think that this would be an easy assignment. I struggled, and struggled hard for something soft. So here is a Feather (soft) with good amount of Soft focus in the shot.

I decided to continue with another one of our ducklings for this shoot. One of my wife's best pairs of stockings had to be cut in pieces in order to create a soft focus look.

Part of my .ducklings set.

It's my personal mix, always a little different. This time it's sesame snax, oriental rice candy, peanuts, pretzels, shreddies, and cheerios; toss with melted butter, worcestershire sauce, and a little soya sauce; sprinkle with seasoning salt, garlic powder, and onion powder; bake at 275 for a while - not too long - - and enjoy. I'm enjoying it right now!

Shot with a plastic bag over the lens, almost total absence of the colour blue. I thought my camera sensor was broken!

My daughter's fingerless glove/mitten things. Fingerless gloves but that yellow bit at the front pulls over the fingers like a mitten if your fingertips get cold.

I felt a resistance to shoot soft looking photographs / to choose them finally as the one for today. This one is not really "soft" in my eyes, but I like it more than www.flickr.com/photos/rvoegtli/5364708846/

Soft = cotton balls. And Cookie Monster. ¥100! Bargain! The cotton balls cost $3! Rip off! This was the first photo I took out of ~50, simple is often the best. Lots of spotty postprod to even out the exposure on the cotton balls and fade/yellow the photo, dim Cookie Monster's blue.

This is The Wooden Doll. Somewhere I have a book that goes along with the her. I used the lights in my new corner studio. I turned off the overhead lights and just used one light on dim bouncing off an umbrella to try and achieve the soft look.

Took some photos of the roses in the daytime, nicer I think.

Used one of my secret santa reddit gifts!! Tallyn series Warm Soft Fuser 3. Thank you to the kind redditor who stalked me good and got me this gift!!!

Consider this soft...

before what it got today: www.flickr.com/photos/connectirmeli/5364058325/

This garden is going off, its growing corn, pumpkin, cucumber, broccoli, rainbow chard, strawberries and passion fruit. All in a cut-down watertank with a diameter of about 1.6m. It is a bit full as i didn't expect everything i planted to grow. This is our first head of corn growing.

This is for todays @dailyshoot assignment #ds428 "Make a photograph with a soft look today.". I did not really understanding what a soft look was (aside from fogging up the lens and taking a shot), I got to thinking that the soft look could be the silky head of the corn, and when i got back to the pc to take a closer look i think its a soft shot just colour wise, there is nothing tearing your eyes out. But let me know what you think.
