actually set this picture up *before* the dailyshoot.com assignment showed up, cause i wanted to use the new cheeze-its scrabble "tiles"/crackers in a picture before i gobbled them all up ~grin~. so this is a bit of a stretch; but in a way you play *tag* when you play scrabble: you put down a word, score it, then tell the next player, "you're it"..........
found these in the local wallyworld (walmart) before the impending (now over) storm which had occasioned my trip there to stock up on food that didn't need to be heated, just in case we lost power. my daughter, who is vacationing away from new england, commented that she would have learned to spell way earlier had she had these. the neat thing is that you can eat the broken ones, something i would never suggest with the real scrabble tiles. does seem to be Woefully lacking in some letters to create Wonderful Words, tho.
and, no, i am not an employee of either kellogg or hasbro ~grin~

As the assignment states, this has a lot of possible meanings. I took an Automobile Tag, that CLEARLY identifies the Car. Any takers :)
Enjoy and remember to comment and critique.

@dailyshoot #ds424: "Illustrate one of the various meanings of the word tag today in a photograph"
The term "tag" is for me associated with media, social media like twitter, delicious or also with the term "keyword", Buchzeichen, bookmark. So I made a wordcloud with the Tag Cloud Generator www.tag-cloud.de/ out of the archive of Dailyshoot www.dailyshoot.com/assignments/archive and took a shot with the camera (without a tool) from the screen. I know - not a very nice photograph.
It's a conceit, but...it's got a tag, glossy surface, and liquid! The photo has three DS tags, too.

Behind the glass, this is not the wine but a curtain (wine color). Reflected within the masts of boats in the harbor. It was pouring rain (water). Besides, it rained all day but I have not tasted this wine, anyway it was not cold enough for hot wine. A good tea will do. And then 3 € glass of wine is not an exaggeration? Yes. Even if you count the price of cinnamon.

In french, the most common use of “tag” is the graffiti related one, so I decided to go for a little walk during my lunchbreak and discovered a new spot (new for me because I think these murals were created in 2009).

Harumph.
While I am inside trying to get some WORK done, my toys are outside playing. How unfair is that?
Do you remember playing tag? I can remember a stretch of maybe 2 years in elementary school where we had an every day recess game of Freeze Tag. How simple could a game be? No parts, no fancy equipment, no electricity, just running around chasing each other.
So here, Kimmy Kiwi has snuck up and tagged Wiggly Warren.

Buying clothing has become more complicated with moral decisions accompanying fashion decisions. There was a time when I shopped that I bought something if I liked it and I could afford it. Now many criteria affect my decision. Where was it made? Do I want to support outsourcing or goods made in my country? Was it made in a sweat shop? What is the fabric? Does it breathe? What are the washing requirements? Does it have to be dry cleaned? What about environmental questions - if it comes from far is this a good choice? Is it made from a renewable resource? ... So many questions with answers often conflicting. Complications...

Ah, the veritable Manila Tag, where would we be without it? Hands up if you used it when you did art in school? And now, we can get tag board in such a beautifully wide rainbow of colours, why would we settle for just old plain manila??

This is for @dailyshoot s assignment #ds424 " Illustrate one of the various meanings of the word tag today in a photograph." I think this photos shows off two different types of tag, the advertising tag for national geographic is one and the national geographic info tag is another, I am satisfied with how this came out but would have liked more light.

Family friend, good sport. Anyone know how to desaturate a whole photo except part in Lightroom 3? I paint desaturate all over the photo and erase the parts I want coloured, I'm sure there's a better way. I liked the natural shadow to the left. I was thinking about painting in some colour (green) for the Cactor (toy) but ended up leaving it out so the red text is the only focus.

So I went with an obvious. I actually really like the tags on some clothes from Hollister. For some reason I find them interesting lol.

[I'll preface this by saying I have no ambition of getting into a debate with anyone about Israel's military, land, or humanitarian policies. Similarly, I refuse to tolerate any bashing of Israel, its citizens, or Jews in the comments section of this page. I will also not accept bashing of the Palestinian people. I tolerated it on my youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnvWZ-iST3E) when I returned from Israel, but I really don't care to see it here, as well. Whatever thoughts you feel you have to convey about the middle east conflict, please state them constructively and respectfully.]
Just over three years ago, I returned from my first and only trip to Israel, a country I yearned to visit from my earliest years. It always played a mythical role in my upbringing, as family members shared pictures, videos, books, and stories about their own trips.
My own visit was intensely personal and transformational. It shook my perspective on many things and since landing back in NY on Jan. 11, 2008, I've yearned to return to Israel.
I didn't buy many souvenirs when I was there, and perhaps my favorite items that I brought back were the ones I scavenged! But the most unexpected ones are the ones you see in this photo.
The conventional dog tag you see is engraved with my name and the dates of my tour. That was a surprise farewell gift to all of our tour members from our guides when we left them at the airport. It's an IDF tag, and it carries special relevance for being that.
The dog with wings is a gift from an IDF soldier who I befriended. (IDF soldiers our age joined us on the trip to bring perspective to our experiences). She wore it on her cap as a member of the canine unit used at checkpoints at the country's tumultuous borders. I was so flabbergasted to receive that artifact, and it's become my most treasured possession (other than my photos and journal) that I brought back.
I spent days with these soldiers - some of them younger than me at that time - getting to know them and learning what it's like to live in a country with compulsory military service. To a man or woman, when I asked, they all said there was never any fear entering the military, nor was there ever any doubt that they wanted to. You can say what you want about IDF and Israel policy, but you can't take away from how brave, courageous, and patriotic those young men and women are.

At the rink today, messing around on the ice for maybe the second time in her life, now my daughter wants skating lessons. Good thing her friend has a session of lessons under her belt, and could talk Kemma out of her iron-grip-along-the-wall version of skating. By the time I got there, and got the camera out, she was actually scuffing along more than an arm's length from the boards. (I'll make a Canadian out of her yet.) The game of tag was no contest. Abby can skate circles around Kemma. But they had fun 'pretending' to play tag. Good thing about kids: they might just humor you when you bribe them with treats.

...of the word tag today in a photograph."
Originally 'tag' meant the baggage tag for me. You know the label in the beginning of a process ...when you fly to Australia and your bags end up into Paris. When you're back home your bags have been spotted in Brisbane and the next estimated spot being Nairobi...
The next meaning I learned was #everything
Today I learned a 3rd with help of www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tag?show=0&t=12949...

I was actually shooting something else when I spotted this. Not a tag, exactly, since a graffiti tag is usually more of a signature or calling card of sorts, but it's going to have to suffice!

Thought that I would be able to find lots of tagging photos today, but luckily, our city does a pretty good job of keeping that cleaned up. This is the best tagging I could find. Not your normal tagging.
