stopped into a beauty supply shop to look for something mundane but found her, a person who has made a lot of colorful choices :):) she was more than happy to have her picture taken, so i did from several PoVs (see URLs below).... when the pics were uploaded, i decided to blur out the shop's merchandise so she would be highlighted and *iphoto* made an interesting choice-- to give her a ghost double over her left shoulder.

That's a funny one. When I arrived in the US eons ago and went shopping to a supermarket for the first time, I was stunned by an unanswerable cashier's question: "paper or plastic?". I had no idea what she meant... My first understanding was that I had to decide right there at the beginning whether I would pay with a credit card or cash. Only after a confused silence, a repeated question, and finally a proper full "What kind of bags would you like: paper or plastic?" I realized what the whole thing was all about.
Oh, the clash of cultures.... Language is only one part of communication. Understanding of the message context is the other one. You need both to be successful there.
Lighting info: I wanted some balance between the light provided by the lamp and the flash. The lamp alone would not be sufficient for the whole scene, so I reverted to a supporting flash. There is SB800 zoomed to 105mm pointing toward the ceiling coming from behind the camera on its left. Aperture was selected for the DoF. The flash was set to 1/32 power, enough to light the hands and fill the face. Shutter was selected for enough of the light provided by the lamp to "sink in".

Like many in the States, I did my Civic Duty and Voted. However, unlike most, I had a Political Advisor to assist me make my decisions. Joking aside, I took my two boys with me and they both received the "I VOTED" stickers. The little one would not take it off all night :)

This morning the light was so nice. I had stopped to take a photo of the Olympics with blueberry bushes and I turned around and saw this. Not a traditional frame, but for some reason, it looked to me like this barn was framed in fall.

Step 1. Chose a subject. Ok, that's easy... I'm on my way to vote... and there are so many photo ops at my small town polling place, I'll go with "casting a ballot."
Step 2. Chose things at the polling place to photograph.
Step 3. Sort out the photos and chose one to use for this assignment.
That's where I got stuck, because I liked ALL of my photos from my small town Community Center polling place....
How will I be able to chose...?

A long time ago, when I was doing the Daily Shoot (almost) daily, I was also catching up with some of the older assignments. These dice and a printed list were how I decided which one to do on any given day.
