I figured that autumn leaves should at least make an appearance in a photo before they've completely disappeared. As you can see, I made it just under the wire! By the way, my photo is neither cosmic nor rebellious, but The Flaming Lips have such great song titles I couldn't resist.

This is one of the many trees that I pass on a daily basis. When I saw the suggestion for a dailyshoot of a strong vertical line, this composition is what immediately came to mind. there's something strong about a tree standing tall and reaching out to the world.

Today we went for a walk with visiting friends and for the first time I got a chance to walk up the old tower of the local castle. I was quite amazed about the collection of old weapons they have in there! This is a shot of just three of the many swords and lances they have on display.

After several days of wrestling with a combination of Nikon's silly bundled software and Photoshop, this is my first D7000 shot that I was able to process as a RAW file directly in Lightroom, thanks to the new Lightroom 3.3. RC update. I love it. Lightroom's noise reduction, combined with the D7000's great high-ISO performace, result in the great soft noise look you see here (look by his feet at full size).
Oh, and Ian's not leaning on an interesting wall. He's lying down on some stairs. That's a stepped fountain beside him.

While I was waiting at the garage this morning for some work to be finished on my car, my Daily Shoot assignment arrived!
This gorgeously blue GTO pulled in and parked right in front of me and I couldn't believe it when I looked at the silver trim on the front fenders... gasp... vertical elements!
I spent the rest of the day humming "Little GTO"... :-)

I don't remember the name of this plant but it's one of my favorites. In the spring it is topped with yellow flowers/leaves, it's green all summer and then turns bright red in the fall.
