The Daily Shoot #332: Think upside down & really change your view point. Make a photo where you or your subject is upside down.

2010 - Day 286. Oct. 13, 2010.

Daily Shoot - Think upside down & really change your view point. Make a photo where you or your subject is upside down. (@PrimalPhil)

I don't know if this is the same heron as in yesterday's shot, but it is the same location. The sky was very overcast today and the bay was still as glass. I knew exposure was going to be tricky, so I decided to overexpose and then bring up the blacks to hopefully emphasize the lines of the composition. I didn't capture the detail I got yesterday, but I like the overall effect.

Todays challenge on dailyshoot.com was "Think upside down & really change your view point. Make a photo where you or your subject is upside down."

Now I was stumped with this one today, looked around for something upside down, but didnt have any luck, and didnt want to have to get upside down myself for a shot, but when I got home tonight our cat Sefidi, came over for her evening ritual which is as soon as I sit down at my PC she comes over and wants me to pat her, then after a little bit she flops onto her back for a tummy rub, and as I was doing this I thought, well she is upside down, so quickly snapped a few shots before she got bored with being in front of the camera and wondered off.

Bu tit does bring me to a question I have asked since a young lad, why is it upside down and not downside up?

given that i am an out-of-shape, 60+ year old broad, maybe upside down isn't in the cards for me; but woody and wanda can do acrobatics :)....

I surrender! Turned both me and the camera around. As it is the international suit up day today, I just had to get a suit in the picture.

J'écris tous mes textes en français aussi, pour réapprendre la langue (beaucoup de dictionnaires encore). Si tu connais français et vois des erreurs, n'hésite pas à me corriger.

Je me rends! J'ai tourné l'appareil de photo et moi. Comme c'est la journée internationale du costume d'aujourd’hui j'ai juste eu à mettre un costume dans l'image.

Daily Shoot Assignment: Think upside down & really change your view point. Make a photo where you or your subject is upside down. I pop my head in my computer room where I am hearing all this dance music, just to find my Clone Trooper breaking out some old school moves. Ok I had a little fun with this one :)

Enjoy and remember to comment and critique.

PD: Wanted to use water instead, as in Life upside down. Actually tried with water and orange juice, but looked too similar to Unqualified's photo, so I ended up playing around with a few almonds.

There's tension in the lines, and this is totally inspired by ds332 from aforgrave. See comments.

Ironic that I turned my shot yesterday upside-down too to make it more interesting.

"Unnamed" by Finnish Paul Osipow is what I wanted to see upside down today.

I used the original picture in my liveblogging a lecture (in Finnish) today on meaning of food and exercise for our brains in Sello Library in Leppävaara, Espoo.

Seen from above, these "cloud stampers" act to agitate the upper reaches of a cloud layer, stimulating droplet formation and working collectively to induce a rain cycle without adversely affecting the natural chemical composition of the clouds. Each stamper is suspended from a large, military-grade weather balloon. The vertical oscillation of the stamper is automatically generated as a result of naturally occurring air currents and an inherent "push back" resonant effect from the cloud-air layer interface. Resultant effects can increase precipitation probability on the order of 40% within a 12-hour window. Cloud Stampers have been actively deployed in various parts of North America since the early 2000's, in an effort to bring rain to drier areas without use of the traditional chemical cloud-seeding agents.

Cait and I went to the park to try to get some upside down shots, I learned today that my daughter sure makes some funny faces while swinging! The thing that counts is, she had a blast!

It's been a while, but got back out on the tennis courts. I tried to get a few standard action shots, but they were so similar to some tennis shots I took before I started the project, I couldn't post them. Just felt too ... uninspired. I initially really liked the color of the rusted chain link fence, but didn't like it in post. There wasn't enough character to the rust to stand out on its own, but enough to distract from the focus of the picture. I got rid of it by going bw. Then flipped the image, because, why not.

No real upside down THINKING in this photo - just something that is naturally upside down - ready for winter.

So if your fast food indulgence is upside down - to the calories fall out and it is okay? :-)

Probably not what was intended by the challenge - but challenged lately to get things done - so here is the entry. I held the camera upside down and then shot - so at least one thing was truly upside down. ;-)

How about putting the camera upside down? In the air. Tried this back in March as well This is a carefully tossed camera up into the air on timer. Camera is fine. This time. Funky with the fall colors in the yard.
