Woke early this morning so had some time for Flickr and thought I would post another shot, taken fromthe Morric Canal Basin Looking across at Manhattan
Well here in America it is thanksgiving, and time to give thanks, I have so much to give thanks for, my Lovely Wife, and Son, and his family and our Grandkids in MA, who we have sorely missed today and wish we could have spent thanksgiving with, but only a short time till Christmas which we will spend with them and are so looking forward to.
I am thankfully to be pretty healthy and have a job I enjoy. I give thanks to my contacts here on Flickr, many who I consider good friends although I have never met most of them.
I am thankful for the enjoyment I get out of photography and hope I never loose the pleasure i have for it.
Of course i would be more thankful if I was making money from it and could afford the New Pentax camera the K5 which I am drooling over LOL, when it drops in price hopefully early next year I will be so tempted to get one, but for now and beign sensible my trusty K200D iw working well for me and probably all I need
So for those in the States Happy Thanksgiving, and for everyone else well and for everyone actually, just remember onyl one more day and the weekend is here :)
Todays challenge on dailyshoot.com was "Make a photograph that emphasizes the horizon. It's your choice whether to place it on the third lines or to center it."
So while my wife was at the hair salon in Paulus hook I went for a stroll, maybe not the best of spots for a horizon shot but fairly happy with this one for todays assignment, and have quite a few other shots to process from today
Another shot of this building, I seem to take shots of it whenever i see it for some reason, try to imagine what it was like when it was a rail road terminal
Texas has some VERY long roads. If I have the time, I always prefer to take the one lane country roads rather than the highways...so much more to see, so much more to remember (like running barefoot between shade spots on hot asphalt roads in the Texas summer as a kid). Part of the Dailyshoot project.

the same wood pylon thingies as this mornings post but opened wider to show there location and setting
Behind them is the Old New Jersey Central Rail Road terminal, which is now where one can get tickets for the ferries to Ellis and Liberty Islands

A very gloomy, grey, cold, and windy day today in my part of the world. I braved it and headed out to a new cluster of wind turbines to get a few shots. Uninteresting sky, so I knew I'd have to do something about that in post.
Though there are hundreds of these dotting the landscape here, I'm still amazed by the size of them. These particular turbines have gone up in the last month, which is why the field around them is such a soggy mess. The title is my eye-rolling reference to the fuss some have made about the installation of the turbines, as well as my feeling about the change in season.

It's not the real sense of horizon but my "eye horizon" on a lazy sunday. I only put a foot on the balcony and took this shot while the wind blew the last leaves away from my ginkgo tree :(
Horizon? Here? Today? I don't think so. Unless by horizon we mean the place where the grey of the trees lightens to the grey of the sky. So, in the recent archive I find this image of Coquina Beach. Now THAT'S a horizon.

The autumn is coming, there is no escape this time.

Horizon, reportedly, is the place where sky meets with the pavement. Rarely spotted in cities.

This picture almost makes it look like there wasn't anyone else at the campground. It was actually full, but we had a good time anyways.

This is a shot I took this past weekend, and which I processed to be a bit HDR like, its not something I often do but kind of like how this one turned out

Drowned in work all day, so just a quick look into the horizon from the balcony. One of those days again, and a photo to match...
Luckily, hard work is paying off, and I am beginning to see some light ahead.

Quick run to the beach today. Cool wind off Lake Ontario and not a soul on the beach. There's were a few picnics tables scattered around to remind of the busier times from the summer.
