I took many shots for this challenge bt this one i think more meets it than many of the others, as the shadows are quite harsh and accentuate the textures on the bark of the tree
it also made me pay more attention today to shadows and the time of day and the effect it has on the shadows, I have noticed the changes but not thought about it as much and it has given me some ideas for other shots I have taken but not been that happy with that perhaps I should revisit certain places at certain times of hte day so was an interesting challenge for me

PS: Out of ideas and late at night...bad combination. I knew I wanted to shot something using the flash to create hard shadows on the subject, but couldn't find anything interesting and ended up using myself for the pic.
The only post production has been adjusting the temperature and tint of the color to compensate for the flash. The rest is out of the camera.
Strobist: Bare 430 EX II behind subject @1/32 power, 32mm, facing towards the camera about 0,5 cm from the main subject. Trigered using cactus V4 wireless.

I don't know that this is in the spirit of the theme, but I'm going with it. This is the shadow cast on my wall in the late afternoon. Converted to B&W and upped the contrast and blacks a bit.

Once again put of until it was far too late. No hard shadows outside today as the sky was all grey, that kind of put me of.

On bright sunny mornings, I welcome the bright light on the interior garage wall when I open the door to head out to work. I really appreciate the shadows it creates. Add in the texture from the chipboard, and this picture was a shoo-in for today's topic.
I especially like the contrast between the lit wall and the shadow on the right side in this pic. Not all of today's shots came out so dramatically. I also like the small, shadow on the nail, as it runs at an angle contrary to the main shadow of the nail. (And no, this picture was NOT taken on a soundstage in an effort to replicate the lunar surface.)

No shadows outside as the day was totally overcast with heavy downpours. This is my feeble attempt - shadows of a house plant refelected on the wall paper late at night...
Hard shadows was a suggested theme for today. As I got home from dinner, the first thing I saw were the lights. The bright red and blue flickering across the walls of the buildings. Then I saw the hard light from the cop car and decided to go with it.

Table legs...not as dark as I like, but still plays with the gloss of the varnish well.

I can't tell how much the shadows are helping bring out the texture in this one. It's not quite what I hoped for when I was taking the shot but will have to do.
