Me and my wife live just down the road from Lake Crabtree but this is my first visit. I've been in Raleigh for 6 years now but I had never been compelled to stop by the lake. I somehow managed to have a bunch of crap on my lens that I had to clean up afterwards, but I think it came out great all the same.

PS: This is my nephew's bedroom after his mom cleaned it up. He saw me taking a photo, and started to jump up and down on his parent's bed. He looooves pictures. Can you imagine how this room will end up after taking the pictures?
On post production did a lot of spot removal (need to clean up the 17-50 lens), and added a Dragan effect to make it interesting.
Strobist: Since this was a long exposure shot, at minimum aperture (f32), I had to light the scene a couple of times manually using a 430 EX II flash. It was the only way I could compensate the darker (right-most) part of the picture since the window light was not reaching that part.

Suburban life. Your own piece of land. Own, but not too big. Big enough to let the kids play on the slide. Or have a family breakfast outside, on the porch. Big enough to have a lawn you need to mow every week. Too small to have privacy without separating from the neighbors with tall shrubbery... Sometimes, you just stay indoors...
Suburban life, a pretty wife, you think you've got it made.
This ain't no HDR :)

The old gas pump and general store at Driftwood. Driftwood is a little stop at the crossroads of two rural roads in the Texas hill country...nothing there really except this pump, the building behind it, a cemetary and post office. I haven't quite figured out why the hotter it is, the better the photo of the Texas hill country seems to look...part of the DailyShoot project #ds259

I drive by an abandoned house every time I go up to my partner's parents' house. On this particular trip, the house was gone.
About ten minutes after passing it, I turned around to head back and get the shot. It was too good not too. The couple that owned the lot were in the process of tearing the old house down and taken a break.

For the past few weeks the geese have been congregating in the yard. Noisy and messy they are not always welcome visitors.

Getting ready to go camping this summer, so I had to make a run for supplies and a tent pole repair kit. Didn't have much time to shoot in the store so I didn't take my camera out til I was leaving.
Forgot my circular polarizer at home, I know the sky would have been much nicer with it. Tried using the internal ND filter but didn't have much of an effect.

We found this one outside in the yard while setting up the tent for repairs. The shot I selected for today's dailyshoot was easy peasy so I pushed my G11 to see if I could get larger DOF while in macro mode. I've only been able to achieve nice bokeh with macro mode really close to my subject.

It was a bit dark to have such a small aperture and it's not quite as sharp as I would of liked.

That's my father. He's recovering from having stones removed from his kidney and having his gallbladder removed. Although this picture may not depict it, but it's the most alive we've seen my father in about a month. He is stubborn and tells everyone he's fine all of the time.

I love my gardens. You can't tell from this picture but there's not a lot blooming right now. The flowers in the old wheelbarrow are really taking off and showing off a lot of color. I'll have to remember this plant for next year.

hmmm, is this layered enough?..........this is a private home in town that has quite a few different sorts of sculptures. this is a small fraction of what you see.......... so should i go with the fence or without?
