Todays challenge for the daily shoot was The world is always in motion. Make a photo that conveys a bit of your own motion to your viewer.
This I struggled with, and this is the best shot I got that met the assignment to degree of givign a sense of me in motion, this was done with Zooming the lens while shooting, I am not happy with it and seriously considered not posting, so feel free to be brutal :)

Venice, FL fishing pier on the beach. The sun was so intense it made it look like a path to a unearthly light. This image was awarded third place in the themed competition: "Hot times in summer"

I experimented with slow-sync flash a few years ago and came up with this, this, and this. I really liked those early tests, and wanted to see if I could go back to it for today's shot.

Hmm. Perhaps I took this a bit too literally, but I'm pleased with the result. I just walked around Worcester for an hour this morning, snapping the occasional photo from the hip as I walked. No real planning, and a lot of horrible shots, but they do convey my own motion! This looks ridiculously processed, but the only thing I did was converted it to B&W and upped the contrast and blacks a bit.

I wanted to catch an arrow in flight, I managed that but it didn't turn out that great. A shutter time of 1/30 s was obviously way too much for a speeding arrow, but my remote control (aka father) went of to do other things before I realised that.
Bonus from this shooting: I spotted a few errors in my technique, one being that I close my eyes when I release the string. Makes me look stupid on film too.
Tomorrow it's back to home for me, can't wait to get back to all the lovely photo subjects in the city.

I recently started cycling (hey, another expensive hobby apart from photography) so I thought I'd try and show that for this Dailyshoot assignment. Strapped my camera around my neck, put a wide-angle lens on it and tried to keep shutter times long-ish to capture the motion.

I took a series of these last night, but wasn't really happen with them. This is a crop of the best one. I used this effect a couple years ago in my Mustang and everything game out much better. I can't really remember doing anything much differently though.

Went for a paddle this morning, and used my camera on a Gorilla POD on the deck of the kayak aimed at the water. With the timer engaged, I clicked, and then started paddling. This was the best of the bunch.
