2010 - Day 195. July 14, 2010.

Daily Shoot - Make a photo from a low point of view. Go for a dramatic effect by changing the appearance of the size of your subject.

I set my camera on a bean bag on the ground, lay down and peered through my macro lens to find a 'story'. I hadn't even seen the toadstools before that. I went for wide aperture and really soft focus. I added a few highlights with my fractalius plugin in Photoshop to play up the feeling of magic afoot.

Todays challenge for the daily shoot was Get creative with abstraction today. Make a photograph of patterns and/or shapes that aren't recognizable objects.

Not sure if this is creative or not, let me know what you think

Of course I managed to slip in reflections

Well to be honest back in May I took this, I liked the reflections but didnt like it in color so decided to try black and white then moved to a sepia feel and quite like how this turned out

Well I sort of got low down for this shot, but not sure I change the appearance of size of it

Not sure if I like the end result of my processing but was in a rush

Just a leaf laying on the ground, nothing special

Have a good day everyone

Well I'm back, took the weekend off as I had so much on my mind including our Granddaughter Zoey who was scheduled to go in for Surgery today to put a tube in her stomach for feeding since she wasnt doing so well from the bottle, but over the weekend she made a big turn around and is feeding wthin the range the Dr's want her to be, so at long last after three and a half months in Hospital, Zoey will be going home to her loving Family in the next day or so :)

Another thing on my mind was I was letting the photo course I am doing get to me as the next Unit is all about portraits and I hate doing people shots, but if I get onto it and finish my current Unit I can take portrait shots of Zoey and her family when were able to visit them so feeling better in that regard and ready to get back into my normal Flickr routine

catch up with you all soon

I am not at all into bikes or cars, but its fun pretending for one shot. (Actually I don't even know what exactly it is that I photographed here. I just saw the nice reflections and that fine patina)

Added little dri processing to give it "that look".

I was hoping the hoop would look taller from down low, but it didn't quite give me the effect I wanted.

OK, I forgot about the 'low point' detail...

The exercise was to shoot from a low point to show distortion of subject. I wanted to add more to the detail of distortion by introducing my prescription glasses in front of the subject to show my view (through my glasses) and others view from below the subject.

I followed just half of the assignment: my focus was the architecture and the art in this wonderful Museum Brandhorst in Munich www.museum-brandhorst.de/

Make a photo from a low point of view. Go for a dramatic effect by changing the appearance of the size of your subject.

My wife, in her spare time from teaching music in the public schools, vocal directing for regional youth theater, and being an amazing mom and partner, is a Cookie Lee jewelry consultant (I believe that is the official title). I mention this because she had a jewelry show this afternoon and evening.

Part of my duties as husband includes being a jewelry roadie. I carry the bags, help set up and tear down the displays, and stay on call during the show should the need for food or beverage arise. While carrying out all of the merchandise at the end of the show tonight, I looked up at the neon-emblazoned edifice of the building where my wife's open house had been. The movement and color of the glowing tubes seemed like such a contrast to the moment of quiet completion I was otherwise experiencing.

Low angle vantage point secured, I snapped a few photos looking up the building. I rather like the lines and intersections of this one.

I had some fun taking this one. I had to repeatedly jump off a picnic table and keep adjusting exposure and flash to try and get something usable. I'm not totally happy with the end result, but I had to get to work and the kids playing at the playground were starting to stare at the idiot who kept jumping off the picnic table :)

Just to show what yesterdays abstract post was, see the note

I'm starting to like live view more and more, it's nice to be able to take photos close to the ground without crawling on it.

It's quite dry in Stockholm right now, as you can see on the grass. The weather has been great the last month, too warm for my taste even (around 30 degrees Celsius in the shadow).
