Former LSWR Ironclad coach converted to Departmental use, DS230 is seen in Horsham Yard where it resided for many years, this shot being taken in approximately 1994.
Drove to a sandy area so the dog could swim. This area is designated as protected as it is home to Lake Huron Tansy and Pitcher's Thistle.

This sign has been visible all around the town of Merrill, Oregon this week.
The water level dropped so low that the pumps shut off and the citizens of the small farming community where I grew up found themselves with empty faucets.
Fortunately, small town hospitality kicked in and Tulelake - just over the California border from Merrill - offered a chance to freshen up and temporarily get away from the grit of reality.
A shower cap and sponge, while perfect props for this photo, were not in high demand during our visit this weekend.
Special thanks to my niece, Hannah, for being generous enough to be my model for the day.

Being at Stage 1 on a holiday weekend here inu Strawberry, AZ is a good sign here; in years past, water shortages have meant outages on busy summer weekends.
But the story is the stuff in the field behind it- new building supplies means the rumors of the new brew pub being built might be true, and this is just a short walk from my house.

Today was the final day of golf lessons in a series for youngsters. My granddaughter was in them and I noted the sign as I went to watch her play.

Photographed at Riihimäki Sportspark - the upper sign is explained with an additional sign: No entrance (outside game / event times). The other sign has remained after "...The International Sportsmen's Fair (Kansainväliset Erämessut) which is Finland’s Number One Event for all nature-related leisure-time outdoor activities..." www.riihimaenmessut.fi/en/ The sign says: "Entrance to show arena". In all of the new developments around the area, stormwater ponds are being built as part of the drainage system. The developers are doing a nice job of planting indigenous vegetation, and it takes no time at all for the ponds to become populated with aquatic life! The green spaces are billed as selling features but apparently not to be used... It's a good thing frogs can't read.

In English this sign reads:
"Lethal line above the tracks
don't go near fallen wire"
Was not aware of the translation of vista when I went out for for this shooting, neither google translate or the online dictionary I tried gave me any information. A hefty printed dictionary later gave me the answer, and I was happy to see that this photo matched the assignment quite well.
Side note: just upgraded to a pro account, so all my older photos are now available in high resolution (long edge 1920 pixels).

Contrasting values. On a few different levels. If this weren't a daily exercise, I would probably crop out the Senate campaign tag, and perhaps shift the perspective a little?

This one gives context, but not necessarily clarity. It might also be short on context. This is a sign that makes my daughter shreik from time to time. The "vandalism" by cultural conservatives is to me ironic, but to her it's a source of fits. I also find it interesting how ineffective the message was for the one Pro-Choice bumpersticker in the mess. Somehow the Pro-Life on the right meant I didn't really read it until after I'd processed this, and several other photos that had the same message clearly on the sticker.
I try not to drive up to this stop sign very oftenm because it usually gets me worked up too. It seems to have an ongoing life though... I seem to recall a different mix in the past, and I'm guessing it's mostly the same crew of neighbors, since the message doesn't change all that much.
For those concerned about my own safety and whether I'm a scofflaw, I did part and walk to shoot these.

A rather incongruous sign with the vista behind - it says "concrete". I do hope it's just an ad for a company elsewhere, and not a sign meaning that a business producing concrete is going to be build here to ruin this peaceful country scene.

My first try at colorgrading this one. Actually, the other one comes from a different version. Challenge here? Getting deeply faded reds to remain visible without altering the rest of the image to something far from naturalistic. Yes, I know I could mask and microadjust this, but I'll wait until someone expresses enough interest to make me think this might be gallery material.
