Oh man, when I read the assignment this morning, I thought-- "is this the first one I bail on?" -- I had no clue what to do; I played with book and computer (too easy), old and new phones, then did some stuff with my iPhone and my old drawer of CDs... then shazam! (get it?)
I saw my guitar sitting on a chair and remembered my iPhone has the PocketGuitar app..
So there you go, traditionald and contemporary guitars, though not much tension.

I think of 'the still life' as a traditional art form. I wanted to try a still life photograph today but give it a contemporary edginess. In Photoshop I made rectangular shape selections on my photo and copied each selection to its own layer. I then played with the blending modes for the layers and added different styles of drop shadows. I think it works. There's tension between the traditional still life in the background and the contemporary geometric shapes in the foreground. Thanks @melhutch for really making me think today :-)

This from our art room. It is in the original part of the school building. You can just make out the built-in blackboard behind the Smart Board.
At one time blackboards were the new technology just being introduced into the classroom. Televisions were predicted to revolutionize learning. Smart Boards are one of the latest tools that are supposed to change teaching and learning.
With all of them it falls to the teacher to learn how best to use the tools to have a positive and effective impact on learning.

One of the things I love about Southern Oregon is how confused and contrary our weather can be. There's that old saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute". It certainly applies to our area.
Today went from cold and rainy to windy, bright and sunny to clear with rainbows. All we needed was some snow and hail and we'd have the whole spectrum.
This afternoon, when I came out the credit union, this is what I saw. I'm so glad I had my camera.
