Oh and by the way all that trash talk of us and Wicker Man burning...was all just smack talk from that crazy Caesar. Really we were just simple mistletoe farmers.

………Looking west from Castlerigg Stone Circle - I wonder how different it was for them? We know so very little about their time & existence, but what is VERY clear WE will have left far more of a mark on planet Earth than ever they did!! Think again and think hard World leaders as you sit & pontificate the Earths future.

'No plastic'

'Lots and lots more trees'

'No combustion engines'

to name but three for those leaders back then.....................

Did a pic for my little druid, hope you like. Gonna play her in a RL DnD campaign.

Check out waterdeep, might stroll her through here.

Taken at Chronicles of WaterDeep

Taken after waiting patiently for the sheep to cross the bridge (and I needed a rest stop!) It's definitely their right of way. The morning mists were lifting and a perfect opportunity to appreciate the green desolation and imaginings of past histories of the area.

The mysterious Druid's Temple in a field close to Tore on the Black Isle. There are a few of these landmark features in the north of Scotland, like near the airport at Dalcross and close to Pitlochry. This is the ruins of a neolithic chambered cairn that pre-dates the druids by a couple of thousand years or more.

Taken during a shoot with Theadore.

Thanks for your visit, faves, and kind comments!

Many of the rock names have been used for over a hundred years. Some fanciful names may have been invented by the Rocks House caretakers in their efforts to amuse visitors. Some appear to have been inspired by antiquarians who adhered to Druidical theories about their origins. Just a few names, such as the Noonstone whose shadow indicated midday, and old local names, Great Cannon and Little Cannon (now the Smartie Tube), may come from an earlier tradition. In his 1786 lecture, Some account of the Brimham rocks in Yorkshire, Hayman Rooke mentions the Idol Rock, the Great Cannon, and the Noonstone next to which a fire was lit on Midsummer Eve. A 19C folly, built to alleviate local unemployment...

Never did manage to get a good photo of the place, surrounded by trees it's hard to get low light shining on the stones..

One of the most striking characteristics of Druidism is the degree to which it is free of dogma and any fixed set of beliefs or practices. In this way it manages to offer a spiritual path, and a way of being in the world that avoids many of the problems of intolerance and sectarianism that the established religions have encountered.

"The Druid’s Temple is in fact not a real temple, but a nineteenth century folly styled after stone circles and well known prehistoric monuments such as Stonehenge.

It was built to alleviate local unemployment, allowing William Danby, a wealthy landowner of the time to pay workers a shilling a day for their labour.

At less than 200 years old, it is nonetheless an atmospheric and intriguing location."
