A great day exploring the delights of North Devon . Hartland Quay in squally showers, followed by frustration at Blackchurch Rock, waiting for the tide to drop. I could wait no longer as the light was fading, so balanced on the seaweed covered ridges and risked a soaking. A big wave drenched me up to the knees, but luckily didn't wash me off the ridge. Fear of Drowning by British Sea Power is an all time favourite gig track, so is perfect.

Remains of the day

I had great fun last night trying to capture a wild stormy sea and failed miserably as I took a very large wave which completely drenched me and all my equipment. that was only at half tide and a massive sea was running. I couldn't get my lenses clean again after but still had a wonderful time watching the waves pounding the cliffs. Fear of Drowning is by British Sea Power and is always a reality on those days. This photo from earlier in the year is on the theme of waves, even if they are sand waves. The sand today will be totally different after last night's fury.

I love it so much that I have to make my own version :-)

Another one from days where the hours spent waiting for the sky to colour up and the receding waves to burnish the wet sand were the very best hours of the day. They are wonderful memories and it's great to have the photographs to transport us to those nights drowning in beauty. They're not always that serene as i'm dashing with my tripod to catch the best reflection as new canvasses are exposed. It's a wonderful frenzied madness though.
