This isn't just any 1950 Beetle. This is the first Beetle imported by the Max Hoffman dealership in New York City.
Max Hoffman was an auto dealer who took an interest in the little Beetle from Germany and bought a few examples to sell to similarly interested auto customers. And while some did take an interest in the funny little car with the aircooled, rear-mounted engine, U.S. sales of VWs wouldn't take off until the mid-1950s. By then, Hoffman was no longer able to offer them at his showroom.
This car was imported from Germany on July 13, 1950, and delivered to Hoffman's dealership that August 5. Parked in 1978 for, as it turned out, 22 years, it was bought and restored by one Dan Quintiliano and has been driven weekly since 2023.

Now this is a RAW photo as you can tell I didn't edit out the gloss off the subjects forehead but, that dosen't stop this from being a great picture right? right ? hahah
The hotel lobby with its free WiFi was my temporary office - the colorful lighting, music and free retro table-top arcade game were only a slight distraction from the constant emails.

Nice shot of the front to see how the machine was driven. From the PTO shaft, to all the other belts and chains that all worked together. Ive always been amazed at how the men who designed machines like these. Understood how to use different sized pulleys to achieve what they needed to make this machine run almost perfectly. Today its all done by computers, but I gotta tip my hat to the old boys who set down and just figured it out.

Jessie of 'BLOODMASQUE' joins Aaron and 'BY DEMONS BE DRIVEN' on-stage for a cover of an 'ALL THAT REMAINS' song called, "This Darkened Heart".
Compressed air driven loco on the circuit at Thong Somboon Club Pak Chong.theme park. Loco had previously been in the now closed museum in Bangkok. The management put on a good show with lots of photostops.
All kids who raced in the Hot Wheels Drag Races received DRIVEN TO READ! bags with stickers, autograph sheets and library card applications.
