Her works take their shapes from oil driling equipment and the molecular structures of petrochemicals. Her shiny, colourful sculptures suggest a temptation that is nearly impossible to resist. . The oil theme holds personal significance for Al Qadiri, who grew up near a refinery and experienced the Gulf War as a child. The exhibition looks both to the future and back at the past. lt recalls the pearl-diving industry that flourished in Kuwait before the oil boom, in which the artist's grandfather worked as a singer. The rise of the oil industry brought wealth to small, impoverished Kuwait in the 1950s, but it also marked a rupture in the history of the entire region. Through her art, Al Qadiri seeks to imagine a post-oil future.

Verano 2016. Driles: nueva crÃa de dril en BIOPARC Valencia. Esta crÃa es la tercera de la matriarca del grupo, Kianja, que llegó junto con Rafiki en 2007 procedente del Zoo de Hannover (Alemania). Podemos contemplar a esta familia de driles en un precioso hábitat "multiespecie", caracterÃstico de BIOPARC, conviviendo con sitatungas, hipopótamos pigmeos, talapoines, pelÃcanos y gansos del Nilo.
El grupo de driles está formado por 9 individuos, dos hembras adultas, Abuja de 13 años y Kianja que cumplirá 15 años el 31 de este mes; y un macho, Rafiki de 14 años, junto con los 6 hijos nacidos en Valencia, tres de cada hembra. Esto supone un gran éxito de conservación ex situ y motivo de orgullo para el equipo técnico de BIOPARC Valencia.

2 de julio de 2013: El verano sigue trayendo buenas noticias a Bioparc Valencia y el pasado jueves 27 de junio nacÃa una crÃa de dril (Mandrillus leucophaeus). Este bonito primate es de sexo masculino y es la segunda crÃa nacida en Bioparc. Su madre es Kianga y, al igual que el padre Rafiki, procede del Zoo de Hannover, Alemania. we have no water!! our well has dried up and we are driling and digging for a new well,we have also replaced our water pump and have been borrowing water from the kind neighbour..we have also ordered a truck full of water from a dam water supply...i am stuck in the middle ages.

the instrument mounting bracket cut fro m the headlamp and instrument mounting plate has been riveted onto a mild steel plate 1,5mm thick which is crudely bent to shape.
First, card board was used to make a template to get the right bend angles etc. The mild steel plate has two holes drilled which mount onto the handlebar clamping bolts where they pass down and out through the bottom of the top yoke. Extra long 100mm fully threaded bolts were obtained for this. You can see a second small piece of steel plate with two hole driled in it mounte at the top of this assembly. This mounts onto the handlebar clamping bolts above the handlebars. it iwas quite fiddly to fit this in position, then push the bolts down through the yokes and wiggle the whole asembly so the bolts eventually passed throuhg the holes in the bottom steel plate.
THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY MOUNT. I DON'T LIKE HAVING THE HANDLEBAR CLAMPING BOLTS DOING DOUBLE DUTY. I'm making a much nicer mounting, which uses 25 mm 5083 aluminium billet, drilled to slide down the fork stanchions, this will provide a bracket below the top yoke on each fork stanchion and a 6061 aluminium bar will stretch between these two brackets onto which a much less complex mild steel bracket will rise up to hold the instruments.
I used rubber grommets on all mountings.
For an excellent supply of rubber grommets I recommend any old British motorcycle shop. They didn't give them part numbers in those days so these shops tend to have boxes of grommets in various sizes. I embarresed myself by asking for 6mm internal diameter. But give a big tip cos I might be back.
